Conversation between a Gursikh and a Majnoo

Posted by Kulbir Singh
Inspired by the poetry of Amritvela jee, this Daas for the first time has attempted to write a poem in English. I was born in Punjab, I think in Punjabi and I am basically a Punjabi. For this reason, my English poem is probably written in Punjabi style. So have fun jee and don't laugh too much while reading it.

The poem is continuing from the following topic that was started today:

[gurmatbibek.com]

In this poem, a Gursikh is trying to dissuade a Sikh-turned Majnoo from turning his back to Guru Sahib.

Majnoo-Vaach means Majnoo is speaking and Gurmukh-Vaach means Gurmukh is speaking.

Majnoo-vaach
If she and I can’t marry
This pain all life, I’ll carry.
At all cost I’ll eat this cherry
I care not about Tom Dick & Harry.

Gurmukh-Vaach
Loving her is all you talk about,
Your commitment to Guru is in doubt.
Having her will not be your bail-out
Naam is all you need to utter and shout.

Majnoo-Vaach
Falling in love, I am not alone.
Everyone I know, is in love-zone.
The seed of love, I have now sown.
I will not back-off, let this be known.

Gurmukh-Vaach
The gait of Bhagats is not ordinary.
People move but they stay stationary.
The curtain of lust, has covered your wisdom.
The result of this blunder will be very fearsome.
You received Amrit, by offering your head.
You promised that all your sins will be shed.
Hukam is to not even look with lust.
Be humble and become everyone’s dust.
Your pride invokes everyone’s disgust.
Your sinful behaviour is quite unjust.
If you don’t stop this breach of trust.
Your success in life will surely rust.
Listen to me, O my dear Sikh youth.
Humble Tapobani has spoken the truth.

Mend your ways and give your back to sin.
Only then your real Sikhi life will begin.

No offence is intended to anyone. Bhul Chuk dee Maafi jee.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh
