You taught us to love all
But we think we're above all

You taught us to help all
But we strive to see them fall

You showered us your grace
But we hate to embrace

You taught us to serve
But we haven't got the nerve

You gave us your Name
But we've made it into a game

You taught us to be humble
But that makes us tremble

You made us look Royal
But we've become disloyal

You can free us from this hell
But we don't want to bid farewell

You made us all your own
But we take two minutes to disown

You taught us to love all
But we think we're above all.

Absolutely wonderful poem Amrivela jeeo. This reminds me of the Shabad - Madho Hum Aise tu Aisa||

Subhaan Allah! Masha Allah!

The good thing is that this poem rhymes and the lines are controlled by metre. Despite these restrictions, the poem gives excellent Gurmat message.

The only thing missing is the Takhalas (pen name). Since you write so well, you should adopt a Takhalas.

I love the fact that this site apart from becoming a destination to discuss and learn Gurmat, is also becoming a hub for poets. May Guru Sahib always maintain this Cyber Satsang.

Some are calling Amritvela Bhainjee and others are calling Amrivela Veerjee or Bhai Sahib. It would be good if Amritvela jee dispelled the doubts from minds of people and disclosed his/her gender. winking smiley

If we go by Baani, we all are Naaree (women) of one Purakh (man) - Vaheguru.

I am Your Singh
who knows not a thing

You are my King
I don’t stop asking

My head keeps banging
and my blood boiling

My heart is aching
It won't stop aging

I won't stop begging
For your blessing

My heart is bleeding
For your Name dyeing

I am Your Singh
They can keep mocking

You are my King
I can’t stop praising

I am still waiting
For Your coming

I am Your Singh
No one can do a thing!

Here is poem Daas compiled with the help of SatGuru Ji:

You look at me
I look at you
3 Kaamic words come out
"I love you"
Cold chill runs down my back, I begin to shudder
suddenly feels like a cold night, full of thunder
A heavy hand rests on my shoulder
Its weight so heavy, and its unmovable like a boulder
I turn around, and there's Guru Gobind Singh Ji
I fall at his feet, and beg him, "oh forgive me!, SatGuruJi!"
He blesses me with many blessings, and takes me in His arms,
And says" Oh my wonderful Khalsa, this is Kalyug, so always be alarmed."
I bow my head and say"Sat Bachan SatGuruJi!"
Seated on His blue horse, SatGuru takes off
I look around, I see no one, and the girl is gone!
I thank SatGuruJi for saving me, for saving the honour of Sikhi
In return I hear the Naad from Sachkhand, which seems to be very soothing
So listen up Sikh youth, stop trying to impress the opposite gender
It is a bigger sin than to slander
SatGuru has said "Khalsa Khaas Hai Soyee.
Jaa Kai Hirdai Bharm Naa Hoyee,
Bharm Bhekh Te Rehai Neyaaraa,
So Khaals SatGuru Hamaaraa ll"
Listen oh Satguruji, this is the plea of you're Toronto Sikh,
Save me from this ghor Kalyug, so I wont be just another Nick.

I am not familar with names of western people, so I, many a times, never know which gender the particular person is. In Punjabi language, we know the gender, from the writting, by the form of the verb, used with first person subjects itself. But in english (unlike french or punjabi) we never know, that. So, I always wonder, what this particular aspect of english language signifies. Does it show that the english culture gives more equality to both genders. (any thoughts?)

Similarly, here on this board, unless Amritwela or Gursewak, do favour to the readers, by adding their Singh or Kaur status, every new reader is to either keep guessing or ignore it. We may not like to add it, but the reader wants it. (Especially, when we are also discussing gender discipline).

----------------------

JaspreetSingh Veer has really written a wonderful and impressive poem. Though I may differ at certain points, his poem is worth many a times the words can be written on the subject. Keep it up Veer Ji. You have a power in your poetry.

Poetry by Amritwela Ji, is also filled with passions.

SatGuru has said "Khalsa Khaas Hai Soyee.
Sorry there was a slight error. It's supposed to be "Khalsa Khaas KAHAAVAI Soyee" and not "Khalsa Khaas HAI Soyee"
