what to do about medication?

waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh!

i have some questions regarding medications. sometimes we're forced to take medication we don't want to take. maybe it contains animal products (most medicines do), or alcohol. maybe it makes us feel tired and drugged. maybe it's as simple as the medicine not being bibek.

whatever the reason, if we must take such a medicine, should we pesh afterwards? and what if the medicine is necessary over a long term? should we pesh know we'll have to take that medicine again, and then pesh again when we have the chance?

or should we just do ardaas to guru sahib, knowing that he'll understand our situation?

thoughts?

Singhs in Toronto once did vichar on this subject and the conclusion was one does not become Tankhaiya taking medicine nor does it interfere with Gurmat Bibek. So as far as my understanding is, taking medication should not force one to get pesh.

Having said that, if the disease is not chronic and the medicine taken is causing guilt, then there is nothing wrong in getting pesh and clearing one's conscience.

The best thing is to avoid medicine and rely on Gurbani and Naam for healing. Diseases are perfect opportunities to test the efficacy of Gurbani and Naam. During this time one should engage in Naam, Gurbani and Ardaas. Once one gets healed through these divine sources, one's faith surges rapidly. It brings one closer to Vaheguru.
