ਬਿਸਨੁਪਦ ਪੁਨ੍ਯਾਕੀ ਤਿਲਾਨਾ ਕਬਿਬਾਚ ॥

ਥਾਰੋ ਆਚਰਨ ਹਿਤੁ ਜਗਤਾਰਨ, ਕਾਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਬਿਧੀ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
Your work is to lovingly give salvation to the world. Nobody, in any can understand how you do this

ਨਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਹੋ ਹਰੀ ! ਨਾ ਜਾਨੀ ॥
Your ways cannot be known, Hari! they cannot be known !

ਬੂੰਦਹਿ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਨਿਵਰੈ ਕੇਸਹਿੁੰ ਬਿਨ ਜਲ ਰਾਸਿ ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਿਸਾਨੀ ॥
Your Name is the drop of water, like the Rainbird, my thirst cannot be quenched. Without your Name, I will forever be thirsty and never satisfied.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ! ਕਰੁਨਾ ਖਾਨੀ ॥੧॥੨੧੨॥੭੪੪॥੩੦੬੩॥
Prabhu, You are the doer ! Oh Prabhu ! The treasure of mercy !

Beautiful Passage indeed!

The English translation seems to be a bit against Viyaakaran (Grammar).

The word ਹਿਤੁ has been translated as an adverb "Lovingly" but it seems to be a noun or perhaps an adjective. The word ਆਚਰਨ has been translated as "work" but perhaps it would be more appropriate to translate it as "conduct" or "nature".

ਜਗਤਾਰਨ it seems, has been translated as "give salvation to the world" which does not seem right. ਜਗਤਾਰਨ means "Jagg noo Taran waala" and here this compound word seems to have been used for Vaheguru.

The translation then as per the meagre understanding of this Daas would be:

Your nature is love, O Salvation-giver (ਜਗਤਾਰਨ); no one can understand any of your methods.

Guru Sahib knows better.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh
