Hard-times and Gurbani

VahegurooJeeKaKhalsa VahegurooJeeKeeFateh

Over the past several months, I have made every possible effort to further my Sikhi by continously adding more bani to my daily nitnem, trying to do abhyaas all day, keeping strict rehat in every way needed, amritvela, etc. and really feel as though my Sikhi has progressed and feel much more connected with Guru Sahib Jee. However recently, many hard times have come up in my life - things that go wrong, things that I can't control. I often find myself incredibly sad, discouraged, anxious and stressed out, which has only pushed me to focus on my Sikhi even more. But the more I do for my Sikhi, the harder it seems life is getting. I'm not sure why things are happening this way. Usually you hear that when people start to devote themselves to Sikhi, their entire life becomes "perfect" and trouble free because Guru Sahib Himself is taking care of them. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or why this might be? Or, any personal experience with something similiar?

Bhenji,
It is great that you are making an honest effort towards improving your spiritual life. However, pain and sorrow are something we will all face in life regardless of whether we like it or not. Sometimes bad times could be a result of some past due karams, but do not let that distract you from your spiritual journey. Take that as a sign to try harder in your efforts to free yourself from sorrow and pain.
I myself have faced difficult situations and there seems to be no other solution or refuge from such tense situations other than reading Baani.

any personal experience …………………………...

I think its part of life. Personally people tend to focus towards God when they are in Pain or hurt. The fear of God brings people close to God.

life becomes "perfect" and trouble free ...……………

This starts when

ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਕੁੰਚੀ ਜਬ ਦੀਜੈ ॥
दसवै दुआरि कुंची जब दीजै ॥
Ḏasvai ḏu▫ār kuncẖī jab ḏījai.
When the key is inserted in the Tenth Gate,

and one becomes humble and starts respecting all religions and all living beings with Guru Kirpa.

I am not in a situation or have capability or capacity to give advice.

You are the only Hope of the helpless, the meek and the poor.

you will be enlightened, inwardly and outwardly.
