what does brahmin and cow mean here ? are they metaphors ?

brahaman kailee ghaat ka(n)n(j)kaa anachaaree kaa dhaan ||
The four Hindu cardinal sins of murdering a Brahmin, a cow, a female infant, and acceptance of the offerings of an evil person,

iPtk iPtkw koVu bdIAw sdw sdw AiBmwnu ]
fiTak fiTakaa koR badheeaa sadhaa sadhaa abhimaan ||
cursed by the world and diseased by leprosy; he is forever and ever filled with egotistical pride.

pwih eyqy jwih vIsir nwnkw ieku nwmu ]
paeh ete jaeh veesar naanakaa ik naam ||
One who forgets the Naam, O Nanak, is covered by these sins.

There is no symbolism here. The meaning is straight forward . According to Hindumat killing a brahmin, killing a cow, accepting food from a low caste person is a grave sin resulting with the worse kind of punishments. But those who dont take shelter in Gurmat and forget Naam are always in sin.

'hindumat' is only mentioned in english translation.
InGurmukhi, there is no mention of hindu mat.

Yogmat, jainmat, budhmat, hindumat etc all fall under the same category which is manmat. This specific pangti was referring to dharma of the Hindus so I decided to say hindumat instead of gurmat.
