Before even considering Gurbani into the picture, there is a certain level of respect that any book that gives even regular knowledge should get. Such as not putting it on the floor, and not damaging the pages in it; whether it be a science book, history, or even literature. Without even considering the Gurbani aspect; this much amount of respect should be guaranteed. If knowledge is even through any other form, it should still get respect.
Gurbani even if translated or transliterated should still get higher respect than the secular books I mentioned. You can Mehta Tekh to bani, and it's still good.
