When bitter papaya turned sweet

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

This incident is about 20 years old.

It was a pleasant evening and family had just completed the Sodar. The doorbell rang. When daas went to open the door, two gurmukh pyaare one who lived locally and other singh ji who was from Sri Amritsar Sahib were standing on the door. Daas said Fateh to singhs and invited them in. Whole family was filled with joy to get the darshan of singhs.

As the Singh Ji from Sri Amritsar Sahib was sarablohi singh, our mataji started preparing the langar for Bhai Sahib but he refused as he had only few minutes and he had to catch a train. So our mataji washed and cut a papita (papaya). It was very big papita and she cut half of it. Cleaned the seeds and served it to the singhs in the baata. Bhai sahib (this singh is still alive and very chardhi kala gurmukh. Daas won’t mention the name), was imbued in the naam rang. The jalaal on his face couldn’t be beared. In divine colors, he started eating the papita. In meantime mataji also gave daas a small piece from the same papita. As soon as daas ate it it felt very bitter. Looked like the papita was not ripe yet and had a very bitter taste. Daas ran to the kitchen and explained to mataji who felt very sad having served the Singhs with bitter papita. She left cutting rest of the portion and went into the room asking Bhai Sahib for forgiveness. Bhai Sahib laughed and said “Bhenji who said papita is bitter. It is tasty like amrit.” In next few minutes the singhs said Fateh and left for the train station.

After they had left, mataji went in to the kitchen and took a bite from the papita. She called daas and said why did you lie? The papita is really very sweet. Daas kept on saying no it wasn’t. Out of curiosity daas took a bite from the portion that daas had left in the kitchen. Daas was surprised to taste the papita. Daas had never eaten such a sweet papita in life. Such is the impact of bachans of Naam ratte Gurmukh sajjans.

Beautiful Saakhi!

Whatever Gurmukhs touch becomes sweet like Amrit. This is the Paaras Kala of Naam.
