Damdami Bir - found?

VJKK VJKF,

I recently came across the following post and was wondering if anyone here has any further information on this:

"Just came across something and if its true its a GREAT news for Khalsa Panth. Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj which Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj got written at Sri Damdama Sahib by Sri Baba Mani Singh Ji and Sri Baba Deep Singh Ji was always thought to have been LOST during Vadda Ghallughara. Some writers said it was taken away by Ahmed Shah Abdali but Bhai Kahan singh Nabha used Governmental routes of Maharaja Patiala and Maharaja Nabha to know about the Saroop, and Afghan Government said they didn't have the Saroop and Abdali never took the Saroop with him. It was obvious. No one who knows about great Prem and Satkar Puratan Singhs had for Gurbani would believe that Singhs would have let Abdali take away Guru Sahib's Saroop. SO where did the Saroop Go? Nowehere (if the claims are correct). Damdami Beerh of Guru Granth Sahib Ji is SAFE and with Panth.

It so happened that Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji brought Guru Sahib's saroop to Punjab after Guru Gobind Singh Ji went to Sachkhand. It remained with Damdami Taksal / Misl Shahedan at Damdami Sahib and after Guru Sahib's 4 Saroops were written by Baba Deep Singh Ji, Damdami Saroop remained with Dal Panth, and Hazoori Sewadars were Singhs from Misl Shaheedan.

During Vadda Ghallughara in 1762, 3rd Jathedar of Misal, Baba Sudha Singh Ji along with few Singhs and Hazoori Sewadars of Maharaj broke away from Dal and quietly made their way out safely from Abdali's Ghera. Mission was to take Guru Sahib to safety.

So they came to Village KUTHALA and placed Guru Sahib's Saroop here in Village's Dharamshala. Some wounded Singhs attained Shaheediya here and they were cremated here. Leaving few Singhs here, Nihang Baba Sudha Singh Ji returned to Battlefield and lead Misal in Vadda Ghallughara,

So, as per the information, Guru Sahib's Saroop is now in Village Kuthala, (Distt Sangrur) where a grand Gurdwara, Gurdwara Sahib Shaheedi stand in honour of Singhs martyred in defense of Guru Granth Sahib Ji."

1.We need to get the defination of 'puratan' right. The saroop in the picture looks & old consistent with how saroops were written during the Sikh raaj(elaborate design+gold ink). Not from Guru Gobind Singh jees time till (1760's ++) as saroops just had lines on the left and right and Gurbani written in between.

2.Bogus claim in punjab is something very common.

3. From the article it seems claim by sant samaj minded people and personally I never take them seriously.

This Bir is may Damdami bir or Khari bir. but not that Bir which is written by Bhai Mani singh ji and Baba Deep Singh ji.

Its just 120-130 years old.

The work of gold on the first page. it must be sponsored by a rich Sikh. (coz of athaa shardaah)

It cannot be the original Damdami Bir, maybe a copy at best.

There is a mistake in the first line of the first pauri of Jap (Jee Sahib), come on!

ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ॥

is written as

ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨਿ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥

Interesting Point:

In Birs/Pothis/Gutkas these days, is only written after ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ as
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥

Many people from different groups use this to nonsensically 'prove' that Mool Mantar is up to ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭੀ ਸਚੁ because that is the first place where shows up, so that must mean that this is where Mool Mantar is complete.

We all know this is not the case.

ਆਦਿਸਚੁਜੁਗਾਦਿਸਚੁ॥ ਹੈਭੀਸਚੁਨਾਨਕਹੋਸੀਭੀਸਚੁ॥੧॥
^ That is a Salok!
What proves it even more are the pair of double lines around Jap which indicate that Jap is the title of the Bani:

॥ ਜਪੁ ॥

How do we know the title of the Bani if 'Jap' is part of Mool Mantar?
Jap is clearly a title.

Also ਆਦਿਸਚੁਜੁਗਾਦਿਸਚੁ॥ ਹੈਭੀਸਚੁਨਾਨਕਹੋਸੀਭੀਸਚੁ॥੧॥ never comes up again in Guru Granth Sahib Jee as part of Mool Mantar/Manglacharan, so I don't know why people egotistically insist that it's part of Mool Mantar.

So what is the interesting point here?

Look at the picture of the 'Damdami Bir', and look after Prasad or GurPrasad.

You see it as follows:

ੴਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਕਰਤਾਪੁਰਖੁਨਿਰਭਉਨਿਰਵੈਰੁਅਕਾਲਮੂਰਤਿਅਜੂਨੀਸੈਭੰਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥ ੧ ॥ ਜਪੁ ॥ ॥ਆਦਿਸਚੁ॥ਜੁਗਾਦਿਸਚੁ॥ਹੈਭੀਸਚੁ॥ਨਾਨਕਹੋਸੀਭੀਸਚੁ॥੧॥

Have you ever seen any other handwritten Saroops like this?
Because here there is a clear indication of Mool Mantar completing at Prasad/GurPrasad.

It is interesting because maybe there are other Saroops like this too, but they have been removed by anti-Sikh elements.
The same way Saroops without Raagmala have been removed/destroyed.
The same way some groups are printing Gutkas/Birs without ॥ on both sides of ਜਪੁ, so they make it look like this:
ਜਪੁ ॥

which is completely wrong. The reason they do this is to make it look like Mool Mantar goes to ਨਾਨਕਹੋਸੀਭੀਸਚੁ.

Some places say it was only Bhai Mani Singh Jee who did the writing. And here is it written that Baba Deep Singh Jee did some of the writing as well. Which one is correct?

And if both Dhan Guru Piarey did the writing, then that means that there should be 2 styles of handwriting in the Bir.

And then if there are two types of handwriting, then both handwritings need to be cross-examined with other Birs claimed to be written by Baba Deep Singh Jee to see if any of them match or not, and also cross-examination with writings claimed to be written by Bhai Mani Singh Jee.
