Virtues Required for doing Bhagti

Posted by Vista
I was listening to Gurmukhs doing veechar and they were talking about Gunn (Virtue)

Bhai Jeevan Singh jee quoted the following vaar. He just kept repeated the 1st line over again in total Bismaad.

I Love him deeply who cultivates humility through Gurmat, the wisdom of Guru.
I Love him deeply who does not go near another’s wife.
I Love him deeply who touches not the other’s wealth.
I Love him deeply who becoming indifferent to the backbiting of others detaches himself.
I Love him deeply who listening to the teaching of the True Guru practices it in actual life.
I Love him deeply who sleeps little and eats little.
Such a Gurmukh absorbs himself in the equipoise.

Then Giani Nahar Singh jee said that if a Sikh doesn't have the Virtue stated in the Vaar then one can't do Bhagatee.
Virtue is a gift from Vaheguru. We should accept and believe that Akaal Purakh is the closest to the closest at hand.

Please share you veechara on Gun and Sikhee.

Absolutely Wonderful Shabad from Bhai Gurdaas jee. Siri Jap jee Sahib states:

(Without Gurmat Gunns, Bhagti cannot be done).

Tu summarize, the virtues stated in Bhai Sahib Vaar are:

1) Gurmat Ghareebi i.e. humility within the Mind.

2) Do not covet other's woman.

3) Do not covet other's wealth.

4) Eschew slandering others and get away from that place where Ninda is done.

5) Do Naam Abhyaas (Updesh Kamaavae). Updesh Kamaavae also means to obey hukams of Guru Sahib.

6) Sleep less and eat less i.e. don't indulge in unnecessary sleeping and eating.

Regarding points 2 and 3 stated above, Sant Attar Singh jee Mastuanewale used to stay that ones who give up ਪਰਾਇਆ ਦਮੜਾ (wealth) ਤੇ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਚਮੜਾ (skin i.e. opposite sex) get lion's share of virtues.

Guru Sahib Kirpa karan.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh

Remember reading from Bhai Rama Singh ji's book where he says that,
"One must stay away from these 3 things if one wants to do Bhagti :

1) Desiring another man/women who is not ones spouse. (in other words Kaam is the enemy)
2)Another individuals wealth. (stealing, dishonest earnings of wealth and so on...)
3) Ninda. "

Many Sikhs jap naam and read gurbani, from what Chatrik has observed. Many don't advance because they don't forsake Ninda. Many also are not aware how bad ninda is for our Gursikhi, the sad thing is.
Chatrik believes it is equivalently bad as ego.(personal view)

How can we place filth(other peoples ninda) and amrit (naam) on the same one tounge?
NO, Only one can remain on the tongue...only one.

I think that Nindya can be controlled through effort. But the 1st two things cannot go away with effort alone. If I am not wrong, I think their influance will lessen with more and more Naam Simran and Paath.
