The other day I met one of the girls we had tied a dastar on during our Sikhi Day event at Guelph University. She told me that that day she had been having one of the worst days she had ever had in a really long time, but as soon as she had that dastaar tied, even her friend noticed that she totally lit up. She explained, "When it got tied, I felt so fondled, and cuddled, and protected, and loved... I just absolutely loved it!"
There have been so many posts about feeling down and anxious lately, I thought this was a good reminder about cherishing every day. If something as simple as having a dastaar tied could have made someone's day who isn't even Sikh, then we as Sikhs should be in chardikala all the time... as long as we retain the kind of innocence and gratitude and awe towards Guru Sahib's gifts that this gori exhibited, every day and every moment.
