Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh's eBooks (iBooks, Kindle)

Posted by BSRS-Trust
The launch of the electronic publications of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh’s work begins with revised versions of the first two books, translated into English by Dr. Trilochan Singh. These are ‘Jail Chittian’ translated into Autobiography of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh and ‘Amrit Ki Hai?’ translated into The Meaning of Sikh Baptism. It coincides with the 40th anniversary of the first edition of the Autobiography of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh in 1972.

With the blessings and support of the Sangat, we are hopeful to publish more of Bhai Sahib’s work in this way. Any proceeds and donations from these books will go towards making more publications of this nature available and for other charitable causes. For more details, suggestions or how to support these please email us on info@bsrstrust.org.

If you read books on the Amazon Kindle or Apple iBooks, you can download the books now by clicking here. On iBooks they are available for Free, whilst on Kindle there is a small charge, which Amazon justify as an admin charge. Hopefully we can get them to reduce it to Free soon. We believe it is possible, but the process is a little more trickier. According to their T&C's minimum option they have for ebooks is $0.99, however they do have some ebooks that are free.

Is it possible to create Gurmukhi "e-books".

This would be good as some of bhai sahib's books I believe are out of print. An e-book or pdf version of bhai sahib's books would solve this problem.

Daas doesn't mind paying a fee for the books as I know it goes towards the trust and more seva can be done.

Unfortunately, iBooks or kindle dont support gurmukhi at present (as far as we are aware). We are exploring other options for these. If anyone would like to help or advise please get in touch with us using the email given.

Regarding, we did initially think about charging a small fee which would go back into this seva and many people did like yourself say that they would be willing to pay. However, there were also others of the opinion that to reach the maximum people it should be free. So in order to keep in line with the trust's "no-profit no-loss" ethos we have decided not to charge, and if anyone feels like contributing or helping out they can get in touch with us. Apple and Kindle take a big cut out of anything that is chaged for the downloads anyway.

If not e-books It would still be possible to create PDF's for Gurmukhi versions of bhai sahib Randhir Singh ji's books. Maybe you could post these on the main trust website.

Also do have any more info on the "Simrati Granth"

Onkar Singh.

This is indeed a very good idea. If possible PDFs could be classified into 3 language categories namely Punjabi, English and Hindi Menu Links (as done by some other websites).

Veer Jujhar Singh jeeo,

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Are there are any plans to make Bhai Sahib's books available to purchase in UK?

I'm sure there are more sangat overseas having difficulty in getting hold of bhai sahib's books.

Onkar Singh.

Following the remarkable success of the first 2 eBooks (Autobiography of Bhai Randhir Singh & The Meaning of Sikh Baptism) released last year (over 2000 downloads in 6 months, including places where we wouldn’t expect like Romania, Belgium, Austria etc) and the encouraging feedback from Sangat around the world, we have now published 3 more English translations of Bhai Sahib's books which are now available to download on Amazon Kindle, Apple iBooks and Kobo:

•‘Rangle Sajjan’ (The Imbued Ones),
•‘Charan Kamal Ki Mouj’ (Ecstatic Sway of Enshrined -Lotus-Feet, Naam Divine)
•‘Is worshipping SGGS akin to Idol worship?’ (Kee Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji dee pooja but prashti hai?)

Translated by Bhai Jaspinder Singh (Toronto), and initially published in paperback editions by Akhand Keertanee Jatha (Toronto), these are now available to a wider audience via the internet through digital media.

We are thankful to those who have helped contribute to this worthy cause and hope that in future you will also continue to do so. With the blessings and support of the Sangat we are hopeful to continue this seva. Any proceeds and donations from these books will go towards making more publications of this nature available and for other charitable causes. For more details or how to support these or suggestions for future enhancements please email us on info@bsrstrust.org or donate to us by clicking here.

To keep up-to-date with developments please sign-up to our newsletter on our website and follow us on Facebook & Twitter using the links below.

Inspire others to read these too, by leaving a review and recommending these books to friends & family.

Note: On iBooks and Kobo they are available for Free, whilst on Kindle there is a small charge in some countries, which Amazon justify as an admin charge, however they do have some eBooks that are free. Hopefully we can get them to reduce these to Free soon too. You can help do this in the following way. Under the product details there is an option which states “Would you like to give feedback on images or tell us about a lower price?”. Please click on the “tell us about a lower price, and follow the instructions to by posting the URL from the corresponding FREE book on iBooks and/or Kobo. The more times people do this the more likely Amazon are to lower the price of these books in different jurisdictions. According to their T&C’s, and for the meantime, the minimum option they have for eBooks is $0.99.

KS ji, yes in PDF format, but the English ones available in kindle, iBooks etc were formatted on such a way that the text will adjust according to whatever device it is used on e.g. iPad, iPhone, different size kindles, pc monitors. With PDF you need to continually keep zoom in/out on smaller screens. That's the difference between these formats. But you are right both can be viewed on these devices, only difference is PDF format is less user friendly.

Good effort by those involved in this project. I had two questions:

1. When trying to use the search function on the issuu website no results except from the first 5 pages of each book are being displayed. Why is this? For example if one searches for the word “isMG” (Singh in Gurbani font) no results except from the introductory 5 pages.

2. Some books of Bhai Sahib are not yet available on the site, these include:

Full books:
Gurmat Gauravta
Naam te Naam da Daata Satguru (full book)
Jhatka Maas Parthae Tat Gurmat Nirnai
Darshan Jhalka (poems)
Gurbani deean Laga Matran di Vilakhanta
Gurmat Adhiatam Karam Philosophy

Tracts:
Amrit Kala
Gurmat Ramza
Sikh kaun hai?
Aastak Naastak
Adrisht Vaheguru de Partakh Darshan
Singha Da Panth Nirala
Baba Vaid Rogeean Da
Naam Da Daata Satguru (tract)
Sikhi Sidak Te Dharam Rakhia

Please can all of these also be made available as soon as possible? That way there will be a complete archive of all of Bhai Sahib’s books and tracts.

Thank you for the feedback.

1. Is this the case for all of them or specific examples?

2. We are aiming to get all the books up there, so this can be one central place for all Bhai sahibs related literature etc.

Please bear with us and continue to give suggestions for improvements.

Guru sahib mehr karan.
