Dib means something that is very micro and beyond the tangible world and Drishtee means sight. Dib (Divya) Drishtee is the capability of a person to see or view things or events that are beyond normal. In Siri Anand Sahib Siri Guru jee has stated that when the Jeev meets Satguru (and follows Gurmat) the Jeev gets Dib Drishtee that enables him to have Darshan. Before getting this Dib Drishtee one is considered to be blind by Guru Sahib:
ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਹਿ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਅੰਧ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਦਿਬ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੩੬॥Another Pankiti in Gurbani goes as follows:
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖੋਲੈ ਦਿਬ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੨॥(Through the Shabad, one opens one's inside (the internal spiritual residence), then with Dib Drishtee (divine super-normal sight) one sees that there are treasures of Mukti within).
One who is able to see such treasures as stated above, can surely see other hidden secrets of this world. There are many examples from Bhai Sahib's life, where Dib Drishtee has been utilized by Gursikhs.
1. When Bhai Sahib and his companions used to do Seva as Punj Pyare, they used to use Akali Shaktees including Dib Drishtee to see if the one getting Pesh was worthy of Amrit or if he or she was speaking the truth. In case of Bhai Hira Singh Daudpuri, whose Jyot Vigaas had vanished and he had no idea why it had happened, when he got Pesh, the Punj Pyare using their Dib Drishtee pin-pointed the exact reason for his downfall. This is an example of Dib Drishtee.
2. Once a famous Sant got Pesh at the Amrit Sinchaar organized by Jatha. Bau Mal Singh jee was also in the Punj. The Sant wanted to get Naam Drir and was not speaking the truth about his Bajjar Kurehit status. The Punj Pyare were about to accept him as candidate when someone patted on Bau jee's shoulder and ordered him to do more inquiry. There was no one behind Bau jee and later on after his grilling it was discovered that this so called Sant had done all 4 Bajjar Kurehits.
3. Once Bhai Sahib and his companions which included Bhai Atma Singh Moga (not Panjokhra Sahib) were traveling and one of their companions got lost. Bhai Sahib ordered that someone see where their lost companion was. Bhai Moga Singh who in those days was loaded with Ridhi Sidhi, immediately closed his eyes and in moments said that their lost companion was standing by a small lake at such and such place. This is an example of Dib Drishtee.
4. Dr. Basant Singh had never seen Bhai Sahib but loved him to death. He came in Jatha after Bhai Sahib had been jailed. He had heard stories about Bhai Sahib and had become his Deevaana (crazy admirer). He found out in 1930 that Bhai Sahib had got shifted to Lahore Central Jail and was close to getting released. Dr Basant Singh could not wait any longer and went ahead and committed an offense against the British by giving a lecture against their rule. He was arrested and confined to Lahore jail. Dr jee's happiness knew no bounds and as soon as he reached the jail he asked for Bhai Sahib. Someone pointed out that Bhai Sahib was standing there. He rushed like crazy and fell at the Charans of Bhai Sahib. Bhai Sahib with great difficulty picked him up from his Charan and as he held Dr jee's face in both of his hands, he immediately recognized him as a close companion from previous birth. This is an example of Dib Drishtee.
5. When Bhai Dalip Singh's parents were about to cut his hair, Bhai Sahib many miles away saw the scene in his Samadhi and immediately moved with his Sooksham Sareer (astral body) to protect his companion. This is an example of Dib Drishtee.
There are examples of Dib Drishtee with many other Gursikhs in the past and present. In Mahabharata we read that Sanjay was given Dib Drishtee by Siri Krishna so that he could narrate the whole of war to the blind king Dhritrashtra. This proves that having Dib Drishtee does not necessarily mean that one has reached high level of Gurmat spirituality. Even non-Sikhs have this Shakti as we read in the books of Hindus, Sufis and Buddhists.
