Funny, I was going to start the exact same thread. Many claim that he started the Udasi "sect" of Sikhism that is obviously wrong on so many levels. In Sri Ram Kali ki var, it's clearly stated that Guru Sahib's sons became vemukh.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਉਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਲਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਪੀਰਹੁ ਕੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੁਰਟੀਐ
His sons did not obey His Word; they turned their backs on Him as Guru.

These evil-hearted ones became rebellious; they carry loads of sin on their backs.

ਜਿਨਿ ਆਖੀ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਿਨੈ ਥਟੀਐ
Whatever the Guru said, Lehna did, and so he was installed on the throne.

ਕਉਣੁ ਹਾਰੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਉਵਟੀਐ
Who has lost, and who has won?

I'm not sure myself, but it's quiet clear fromm these tukhs that Sri Chand was a vemukh. How could Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji possibily have allowed someone like that to start a "sect of Sikhi? How could there be a sect of Sikhi in the first place, since Khalsa is one? Thus there's no importance to Baba Sri Chand, aside from the fact we should learn form his mistake, and posting pictures of a half-naked yogi and claiming that to be Sikhi is manmat at the highest level.

Baba Sri Chand came back in the fold of Sikhi later on. He met Guru Ramdas Ji and Guru Arjan Dev Ji with utmost respect and admitted that Guru Nanak Sahib had chosen the right successor. After meeting Guru Hargobind Ji, he handed over his sect to Guru Sahib. Guru Sahib appointed his eldest son Baba Gurditta Ji to head this sect after reorganizing it and turning it into a missionary group of Sikhism. Guru Sahib divided this group into five branches and each was headed by a Sikh. Job of udasis was to establish and manage Dharamshaals throughout India and write Gurbani pothis and Birs. They carried this task very well but slowly they drifted away from Gurmat. Now they are closer to Hinduism than to Gurmat. Eighth generation of Guru Nanak Sahib (from Lakhmi Daas) took Amrit from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Guru Rakha

Baba Sri Chand Ji believed that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the Divine light of the Almighty and in Praise of
the Eternal Glory of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib he uttered this AArta

These beautiful words of praise for Guru Nanak are the words of Baba Siri Chand ji written in praise of his father, Guru Nanak and sung by him and the entire sangat as they welcomed the great Guru home from his third Udasi (world pilgrimage) with flowers and candlelight
