My question is about our duty to take out 10% of our earning for Daswand. Some say its 10% of what you earn, gross. Others i have spoken to, who who are Rehitvaan GurSikhs say the amount is 10% of what remains after you have paid for that which you cannot control i.e rent and fixed bills!!!

Please clarify

It is not 10% of your money, it's 10% of your time to be spent in doing JUPP everyday.

Daswand is 10% of what you earn. The remaining 90% can be allocated towards rent, bills and other expenses.

We have to give 10% of total earnings before anything else.

Daswant is not only taking out 10% of our salary, it’s also about taking out 10% of everything we do.

If we would like to see the world as a better place, I think every human should start taking out Daswant (10% of whatever in your life) for exp:
Charity
Helping out a friend in need(really in need)
Feeding the homeless
Religious occasion
Anything that is not for you but for another person who is in need
Taking out 2 ½ of 24 hours in a day to remember the lord who created us
Giving 2 spoon’s of your food to the dog or cat

There is a theory which has been explained by a white bearded wise man that there are 4 brothers which are Charity, Fire, Thief and King. He says that if we do not take out 10% of our salary for Charity, it will anger the rest of the 3 brothers and they will take money from us in a bigger scale. Exp:

FIRE
· Fire represent for natural disaster
· Your property being burnt or natural disasters

THIEF
· Your money being robbed or mugged by someone
· Your friends or anyone cheat’s your money

KING
· Your king(Government) will implement rules which will make you lose your money

· Summons and other charges which will cost you more then 10%
