Explanation of terms Dastaar, Dumalla , keski etc

Posted by sikh.learner
1.Dastaar- Piece of cloth around the head when it is not mandatory requirement to fold the cloth in (2 or 4 or 6 half).
2.Dumalla- Piece of cloth around the head when it is mandatory requirement to fold the cloth in (2 or 4 or 6 half)
Every dumalla is a dastaar but every dastaar is not a dumalla.

In Guru Granth Sahib Jee, there is a tukk writen by Guru Arjan Dev Jee Maharaj
Main Gur mill uuch dumallra.
So sikhs before Guru Hargobind Sahib jee knew about Dumalla but it was only the Akaali Army of Miri Piri de maalak that started wearing Dumalla.

3.Boonge Vala Dumalla - Baba Fateh Singh Jee was the first one to wear Bunge vala Dumalla. Bunga is must for a Nihang Dumalla.

4.Keski- It is must to put kesh in keski and then do joora in order to call it a keski.
If we just do 3-4 rounds around the head without puting kesh in keski, it cannot be called keski. it is just a small dastar(it cannot be called
small dumalla as when wearing keski we dont fold the cloth in halves.

Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj told Baba Fateh Singh jee about Farla
So Sikhs and Baba Fateh Singh Jee already knew about Dumalla and Farla.
When Baba Fateh Singh Jee went into deep samadhi for many days, He did parkash of BOONGA. He came out with a boonge vala ucha dumalla, farla and chakras. This is the roop of Akal Purakh.
