ਕੁਠਾ is a punjabi word which means killed. Some people are confused thinking it to define killing done in a muslim way which is not true and is proved below according to Gurbani. This word only came in 3 places in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

First place it is mentioned in the below shabad where Guru Sahib mentions that when GOD resides in you, the secondary thoughts are gone or killed (ਕੁਠਾ) - the entire shabad has no context with muslims.

Second place it is mentioned in Sri Asa Ki War. Here also Guru Sahib means Killed by the word ਕੁਠਾ . ਅਭਾਖਿਆ means by reciting words of other language (ਕਲਮਾ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ।) so the entire line would mean that "they eat(ਖਾਣਾ ) goat(ਬਕਰਾ ) killed(ਕੁਠਾ) while reading kalma(ਅਭਾਖਿਆ ਕਾ)". Looking clearly at the line with each word clarify that ਕੁਠਾ simply mean killed.

Third and final place where Guru Sahib mentions it is in Raag Ramkali where Guru Sahib says that a sheikh killed with the knife of truth (GOD's love) is allowed at GOD's door. Again the simple meaning of ਕੁਠਾ used is for word killed.

BTW, Halal means accepted or allowed and that is not only limited to meat but anything and everything that is allowed for muslims including vegetables, flour, clothes, actions etc. There are five characterstics of human actions in Islam i.e. fard (compulsory), mustahabb (recommended), halal (allowed), makruh (disliked), haram (forbidden). So Halal is not food and also the food Sikhs eat (vegetarian) is Halal (i.e. allowed for muslims). You can't avoid eating Halal at all smile emoticon
Even if you are still not convinced, not eating meat is still a safer bet.
