The 10 Greatest Conquerors in the History of the World

Posted by Mehtab Singh
And so we find ourselves at the exclusive number one spot on the Billionaires Australia list of the greatest conquerors in the history of the world. And the man who resides atop of this list is Hari Singh Nalwa.

The Greek writer Euripides is famously quoted as saying: “Ten soldiers wisely led will beat a hundred without a head.” Hari Singh Nalwa is a testament to this; the man defied the odds time and time again, affirming his reputation as a truly legendary military leader.

There is a magnitude of reasons why he warrants the top place on this list and one of them is that he achieved so much with so little; whereas many of the aforementioned conquerors had the benefits of vast resources, Hari Singh Nalwa, part of the illustrious Uppal family, relied on ingenious tactics and unparalleled courage to defeat much larger armies.

He lived from 1791-1837 and was the commander-in-chief of the Sikh Empire’s army. His military campaigns throughout the Middle East brought order to turbulent areas and suppressed various uprisings. Despite having much smaller numbers, he defeated armies across India and restored the territories to the Sikhs. Most famously, he became the only man in history to take the Khyber Pass – the mountain path that connects Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is a truly remarkable feat that illustrates his strategic brilliance in battle.

In 1804 Hari Singh Nalwa was attacked by a tiger while on a hunt. Refusing the help of any of his fellow hunters, the great leader tackled the beast with his bare hands and broke its jaw, killing it instantly and earning him the moniker Baagh Maar (Tiger-killer).
There is not a military leader in the world that has not heard about and studied the exploits of Hari Singh Nalwa. He remains a revered military figure who defeated his adversaries time and time again without the help of a giant empire behind him.

If you’re intrigued to to know just how such a small group of men, lead by Nalwa, were able to defeat great armies, Billionaires Australia would like to invite you to learn a bit more about the strength of both mind and body that these men boasted.
Nalwa was known for popularising certain martial arts which helped to train these men to be perfect warriors, with the discipline and strength to do anything they set their minds to. These skills have been passed through the generations and are still practiced today.

I believe most of his strength came from Amrit, he took Amrit at the age of 10. It doesn't matter how strong you are or how muscular you are(I assume he was both), all true strength comes from Waheguru
[en.m.wikipedia.org]
That wasn't what they mentioned in that website because they would have to realize that Amrit was so powerful, Bachittar Singh could kill an elephant because of the Amrit, that website won't admit it because since the beginning of our faith people have always tried to destroy us(Guru Nanak had many death threats).

The Afghans were terrified of Jathedar Hari Singh Ji. The Afghan women use to scare their children into sleeping at night by threatning them with the following remarks " If you dont go to sleep then Hari SIngh is going to come and get you". The children would get terrified and closed their eyes and go rite to sleep, lol

jow can one call hari singh nalwa as one of the greatest conquerors....he had fought some battles as many other INDIAN kings... finally he was killed in battle of Jamrud and the entire SIKH army was mauled.... SIKHS were never able to fight a decisive battle against AHMED SHAH ABDALI and ABDALI had Slaughtered thousands of SIKHS all the way in his all invasions.... MARATHAS gave him a such a fitting reply that even after winning the panipat war ABDALI never dared to go beyond Punjab... only after ABDALI's death SIKHS were able to get some parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan for a brief period before getting eliminated by Britishers in just one year.... it were the GREAT MARATHAS who imposed crushing defeats on the MUGHALS which SIKHS could not even manage to disturb it even being in the North... MARATHAS fought the most Blood sheded wars in the famous 27 years of Independence against the Mughals where Mughal army was in 2-3 lakhs and MARATHA army just 5-6 thousand... it were the MARATHAS who envisioned the complete independence for INDIA so they extended their rule to the entire Sub continent unlike SIKHS who knew they cannot manage to it as mentioned by Ranjit Singh himself.... why could SIKHS were not able to free Delhi from ABDALI and his son when ABDALI created severe holocaust in PUNJAB ... it were the MARATHAS who defeated ABDALI's SON taimur and freed the entire PUNJAB and raised the MARATHA flag till ATTOCK... MARATHAS came all the way from Deccan 1000s miles away from the Delhi and Punjab....When Abdali came back as MARATHAS just kept a small reserve force at Attock and came back to DECCAN to fight against the NIZAMS and HYDER ALI and NAWABS of Bengals... ABDALI invaded again and plundered and destroyed PUNJAB and other NORTHERN areas... why SIKHS cpuld not fight with ABDALI then... thousands of SIKHS were Butchered and women were RAPED and SOLD in the markets of AFghanistan Turkey and other nations... SIKHS were extremely afraid of ABDALI and they were never able to defeat ABDALI ... just SIKHS fought small skirmishes to loot the Afghan forces and ABDALI used to take HORRIFIC revenge on SIKHS.... SIKHS never came out of PUNJAB to fight with the Najib Khan the head of ROHILA pastuns who was the companion of ABDALI and the subedar of PUNJAB.. it were the MARATHAS who DESTROYED the ROHILLAS under the great leadership of MAHADJI SCINDIA... who also imposed taxes on the SIKHS..... So called SIKH encyclopedia is all of fabricated information just to please the SIKHS....

"Maratha"

We don't have anything against Marathas. They were good fighters and this thread is not Sikhs Vs Marathas. Secondly, to prove Maratha valour, you don't need to put down Sikhs or any other nation. Sure, Marathas rose from very humble background and became a huge power but there is no comparison between Marathas and the Sikhs. The scope of Maratha rise is very limited and narrow. Their rise was mostly for worldly (wealth) purposes and to attain kingdom. It did nothing for the downtrodden people. They fought and got killed but they remained downtrodden, which is why the rise of Ambedker occurred. If the Maratha movement had done anything other than looting and plundering, then there would have been no need for the rise of Ambedker in Maharashtra. Shivaji was a great leader who belonged to a so-called backward caste and he became a Chhatarpatee (King) but he could not free himself from the shackles of Brahmins and got himself ordained as a Kshatriya before becoming Chhatarpatee. He stayed slave to the caste system which placed him below other people.

Shivaji started and built a great empire and this empire was built by poor and low-caste people but when it came to enjoying the fruits of this success, the Brahmins in the form of Peshwas got total control. While Peshwas were instrumental in building this empire but this Brahmin class was also responsible for the demise of this kingdom. The total rise and expansion of the Marathas did nothing for the low class, downtrodden people and till this day those people remain downtrodden.

The Sikh movement on the other hand was (and is) not a political movement or a movement to build an empire or anything else worldly like that. The first aim of our Guru Sahibaan is to free the souls from the cycle of 8.4 million life forms and to get rid of this terrible of birth, life and death. The second aim was to lift the downtrodden people and give the dignity they deserve as human beings. The supremacy of Kazi, Mullahs or Brahmins was rejected and the order of Khalsa was formed. Any person, from any background can become a Khalsa and reap the fruits of spiritual freedom as well as social and financial freedom.

The Muslims soon after their advent took the world by storm and their rise was much faster than Marathas or any other nation. Their aim was to spread Islam by sword and to find wealth. They succeeded in both. Marathas aim was also worldly and they too succeeded in their aim. The aim of Sikhs was and is to be free from the shackles of Maya and be one with Vaheguru and they succeeded and are still succeeding in this aim. The political ambitions of Sikhs were not a part of their aim for building an empire for themselves or let's put it this way that their main aim was not political expansion or looting wealth or picking up women and girls as Muslim conquerors did. The Khalsa aim of bringing peace and harmony to the world is still alive and it will come true one day when the whole world will live in peace and harmony through the golden principles of our Guru Sahibaan. Our Guru Sahibaan are so great that even through they themselves did not believe in Brahmanical and Vedic principles e.g Janeo still our 9th Guru Sahib Siri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib jee attained martyrdom for the right of Hindus to practice their religion. This struggle of Sikhs to restore true peace and harmony in the world is still alive but the political movement of Marathas is now dead but of Sikhs is still alive. Where is the Maratha movement and empire today? Who in the world today knows anything about Marathas? But look, the whole world knows who Sikhs are and they are striving to bring peace and harmony to the world. They actively use their spiritual weapons of Naam and Gurbani to free themselves from the bonds of Maya and to provide love, peace and harmony to the rest of the world. The fight is not over yet. Sikhs are still fighting but Marathas today are not in the battlefield. Forget about the past.

If time permits, we will refute your wrong statements in your post above, in the coming days. You have been misled about the Sikhs and I don't understand why you are trying to stir trouble between Sikhs and Marathas. We have nothing to gain by putting down the Marathas but you are unnecessarily putting down Sikhs in your post above. We can write a lot about how the Marathas were routed in the third battle of Panipat and how their women were kidnapped by Abdali and how 2200 of them were liberated by the Sikhs, who considered these women to be their own daughters and sisters. You need to answer the question as to why did the Marathas run over Punjab all the way to Attock but made Adina Begh as their governor in Punjab? What was the point of defeating the Muslims and then making a Muslim as their governor? Why did they not align with their fellow countrymen - the Sikhs?

Much more can be written but I advise you to not put other nations down in order to prove valour of the Marathas. We have nothing against Marathas or any other nation. You say they were brave, Mubarak to you. A Muslim claims that Muslims are very brave; Mubarak to them too. All we know is that these other nations are slave to their basic instincts like Kaam Krodh, Lob, Moh and Ahankaar. What good is their valour if they have no control over their lusts.

Good reply Bhai Sahib Jee, Maratha was very ill informed on Sikh history.

Every other one is brave on their own but real brave are those who are one with Waheguru and serve humanity without seeking any return back (selfless).
