Sikhs need to be aware of Christian missionaries. They use some real under handed tactics to get converts. Thing is, knowledge is power. If Sikhs arm themselves with knowledge and spread the Gian of Sikhi while also knowledge about these missionary activity in trying to convert Sikhs, our people will be better prepared. I think one of the biggest mistakes our people make in trying to show how great Sikhi is when they claim "all paths are the same, all religions are equal". I've even seen Amritdharis claiming this! The Gurus never made this claim. Hypothetically, if one does believe in this, then they should first explain that if all paths are the same and equal, then what is the advantage of being a Sikh? why not choose the easy way and become a Christian where all you have to do is just attend church every Sunday?

Muslims have been very successful in keeping their youth in Islam. They don't teach them the "all religions are equal" philosophy that our people seem to be doing which only ends up confusing the average Sikh.

Singh1699 I absolutely agree with your point. And I also would add that Gurmat marg is not just a religion, it is a particular specific path/marg in which we take on a specific purakh as our Guru, ie Guru Nanak.

We go wrong when we start comparing 'concepts' with other religions and start explaining that Sikhi is good because we believe in One God and everybody has been created by Him and we all are equal. And thereby we try to prove that we are all 'goody goody' faith.

This is a big mistake and this is done by Sikhs who do not truly understand Gurmat. Sikhi is NOT just about humanitarian concepts. Its about a very specific thing. That specific thing is Satnaam, Gurmat Naam. This is the Truest Naam that descended on earth and it came through Guru Nanak/Dashmesh ONLY.

Of course one can do bhagti through other Gurus too. Some of them are sargun and some are nirgun upasaks. But NONE of them have access to Satnaam. NONE of them are Sachkhand vaasi. Only Guru Nanak's Satnaam can take us to Sachkhand.

This is why and how Sikhi is different.

What harms us the most is not the words of our enemies but our own silence. These Christians and Muslims do not have anything of value to offer to the world. It is not difficult to answer them back but it is nearly impossible these days to put together a team to counter such propaganda. Sikhs are the least proactive religious community compared to others. The problem lies with most people looking at very few learned individuals to deal with the issues without doing anything themselves. The most common excuse I have heard is “family” and “kids”. If we have at least two Sikhs focus on one religion for comparative study and learn Gurmat from the learned ones, we could effectively counter all attacks on Gurmat. This website can easily be nipped in the bud by writing responses. The question is who will commit himself to learn Christianity to defend Gurmat and stay committed to this project.
