Mahalla or Mehla

The other day I was reading a book by Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji in which he mentions that Mahalla with adak is not proper pronunciation, instead it should be Mehla without addak. He mentions there are four meanings of Mehal in Gurbani and they are house, great house ( mansion) , women and body. He mentions in Sikhi there is one jot which came into ten bodies so the meaning of Mehal is body , but I remember hearing the recordings on this form were Mahalla was pronounced?

Always told to read as Mahalla by my grandfather. Please listen to this hukumnama in Raag Suhi read beautifully by Sant Mohan Singh Ji Bhindri, they also say Mahalla.

Hukamnama

We do Uchaaran as Mahalla as opposed to Mahla. Mahla sounds too missionary and feels like Mehla (woman). Mehla in Hindi means a woman.

Mahalla is the traditional Uchaaran. It's said that in Kartarpuri Bir, this word is written as Mahalla in Persian script as a footnote or perhaps as appendix. Furthermore, in one of Bhai Sahib jee's books there is a footnote with "Mahalla" Uchaaran.

Why does Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji support Mehla and speak harshly against Mahalla. He had sangat of Bhai Sahib? Whenever I go the Gurdwara Sahibs the Pathi Singhs and Granthis always say Mehala and never Mahalla?

This Bhai Harbhajan Singh jee is different from the one who did Sangat of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee.

Did the one who had sangat with Bhai Sahib write any books if so what are the names of these books.

Giani Sant Singh Jee Maskeen says that it should be pronounced Mahalla and not Mehla.
