How to do Parchar to non Sikhs?

Since the recent shooting it is fair to say that Sikhi to still very unknown. One of the reasons for this is that we have failed to do parchaar to non Sikhs because we are no longer interested in doing parchar. I think the best way to let the world know who we are is to spread the message of Gurmat. We have precedents in our history where parchar was given top priority. During the Guru period, Guru Nanak Dev Jee did parchar all over the world. Then our Gurus set up Manjees all over India for the purpose of parchaar. Parchar to non Sikhs was so much that even Jahangir writes in Tauzke Jahangiri that both Hindus and Muslims are following the 5th Guru(which is why he martyred Sri Guru Arjun Dev Jee to stop Sikh Parchar). The 6th Guru went north to Kashmir to do parchaar. The 9th Guru Jee went east and did parchaar as far as Assam.

Parchar only stopped being top priority after Sikhi was outlawed under oppressive Islamic rule and Sikhs had to hide in jungles. Then Sikhs had to make establishing Khalsa Raaj as top priority so persecution would stop. When the British raaj extended over Punjab Sikhism began to reach it's lowest point. But with Guru Jee's kirpa, the Singh Sabha movement had started which brought many non Sikhs into the Sikh fold. What were the strategies that the Singh Sabha parcharaks used to do parchar and bring large numbers of non Sikhs to Sikhi?

I feel Sikh parchar should be the duty of Sikhs today and needs to take top priority. In today's time period parchaar is needed more than ever and we need to spread Sikhi both in India and the west. Please share your views, how can we spread Sikh dharm to non Sikhs? How did the Singh Sabha movement do it?

One way is to play an active role in the key social issues ( ex abortion) in the countries we live in. People saw hope in SIkhi because Gursikhs stood up for good causes, and people wanted to be part of this religion which defended the poor and weak, and punished the wicked.

The best method of parchar is through personal example. If we are to incorporate Sikhi into our everyday lives then naturally people well feel more compelled to learn about Sikhi.

Those are some good ways to make people attracted to Sikhi. Make yourself into such an ideal Gursikh that non Sikhs will want to be like you. But what other methods can we employ. How do Muslims do their Da'wa? or how is it that so many Americans are turning to Buddhism? Why arent we that successful even though Gurmat is the greatest spiritual path of all. If one were to do an unbias study of all religions, you can find flaws in all faiths, but Gurmat is such a religion that you cannot find a single flaw no matter how much you try. Yet why is this great faith still so small compared to the other faiths?

One of the main reason why we don't have our own country today is also because we are so numerically small and insignificant. I don't know why even our Khalistan organization don't make Parchar top priority. The more greater we are numerically the greater chance we will have to a sovereign nation in the future. Power lies in numbers. So it is not only quality but also quantity that matters.

RSINGH Veer Ji,

Muslims, Chritsitans, Hindus, Buddhist and so forth are concered about quantity not quality. If you study these relgions you will notice how they have fallen from the original teachings of theirs respected founders. Why? Because there many concern was to create converts instead of implenting the teachings of the faith. Sikhi is also heading this direction. We are becoming more concerned with teaching liberal version of Sikhi as a means to gain more converts and as a result SIkhi has become watered down. We have bibi jis wearing keski but then they pluck their hair, wear earning and make up. We have some men take Amrit but they still eat meat, dont wake up for amrit vela, and skip nitnem.

Everday Sri Guru Ji tells us that we are too walk the path which is finer then a hair and sharper then a sword. SIkhi has always been a path of the rare devotee and it will remain so. THis path is meant for everyone but not everyone has the audacity to walk this path. We are in kaljug and people are stuck in materialism. What good is it to preach to people who have made up their minds what kind of life they want to live. When times get bad in this kaljug then people will search for Sri Guru Ji and then Khalsa will rise. Since Sri Guru Ji can be found in the GUrdwara Sahib our main goal should be to refrom the GUrdwara Sahibs according to Gurmat. WHen this happens sincere seekrs of Sri Guru JI would be more drawn to Sri GUru Ji.

Our first raj was established by Banda Singh Bahadur Ji . They were few in numbers but they were great in principles and unity. SO the logic of quantity is needed for Khalsa Raj is historically inaccurate. THere are differences of opinion on how this raj was destroyed. One opinion is Baba Ji stopped taking direction from the Panj.

We will rule when we follow the principle of taking direction of REhatvan Gurmukh Panj Pyaarey. WHen we are being governed by the Panj then we are taking direction from Sri GUru Ji and when this happens who can take away our raj?
