Vaheguroo jee

I have seen dhadee vaaran preforming in gurduwaras and i do recall hearing that guru Hargobind Sahib jee was the one who started this practice as a bir ras stimulant for singhs going to battles, but i feel that, judging from what i see in modern dhadee vaaran groups, that maybe the maryada of preforming daadhee vaaran has been lost, does anyone know how singhs in puratan times used to do it?

Too right - another kala like raag sangeet which is also being lost daily -i.e how many singhs do you see doing raag keertan using the instruments Guru sahibs used in puraatan times such as serhanda - in rehansbahis - however you have some beautiful Gursikhs who combine both in rehansbahi's

There are some beautiful Gursikh daddees check out on youtube

bhai surjit singh waris - badla akal takht da ensure to listen to all 3 parts amazing vichaar a dhadhe who spent time with families of our mahan shaheeds Bhai sukha and Jinda singh jee.

Bhai Tarlochan Singh Bhuvandee - another beautiful Gursikh who i continue to learn form - what a learned scholar.

Why do you feel the tradition is lost? Can you explain?

I don't agree with Dhadi Varaan being lost. This kala is still alive in the Panth. I have heard dhadees who work for SGPC, they are so trained that when they are on stage not one person moves in the Sangat. The narrator plus the singers and Sarangi musician all make up the Dhadi Jatha.

Vaheguroo jee

A singh once told me that dhadee used to sing gurbani tuks, instead of telling the sangat sakhiyaan
