In this tuk, and throughout gurbani, we are told that in order to meet Akaal Purakh we have to become the "dust of the feet of all".

How does a gursikh become "sabhna kee reiN"?

I would like to add that there appears to be a contradiction in the following tuk regarding this:

"He is not won over by becoming the dust of the masses".

Why does this contradiction appear to exist?

There is no contradiction in these two panktis. If we come to Guru Sahib with hankaar then we will not get anything. It is first important to humble ourselves by realizing that we are the dust of everyones feet. But just as in the second pankti you have quoted, by literally rolling in the dust to become humble in itself will not get us khushi of Guru Sahib. We must adopt all of the guns of a sohagan in order to have our husband be happy. True Gareebi (humility) is only obtained by japping naam.

Another example of this is that when we want to take Amrit there is a certain amount of Rehit that we must keep in order to be allowed to take Amrit. But this Rehit by itself will not get us prapti, we must jap naam and do kamayee as well. At the same time this does not lessen the value of keeping Rehit. It has to be the full package, we cannot pick and choose.

Rest only those who have pleased our Husband know.

The first Pankiti talks about becoming the dust of everyone's feet in true sense. This happens only when the Seeker, after intense Prema Bhagti, gets Darshan of Vaheguru and then sees Vaheguru in everyone. Then he (or she) truly becomes dust of everyone's feet because in essence he is becoming dust of Omnipresent Vaheguru jee's Charan-Kamal's dust because Vaheguru jee's Jot is in everyone.

In the second Pankiti Guru Sahib is saying that by adopting Nimrata alone, one cannot please Vaheguru. Any Karma that is devoid of Naam, cannot please Vaheguru jee. This Pankiti is geared towards such people who don't adopt Gurmat Naam Abhyaas and just try to please Vaheguru by being humble. Vaheguru jee does not get pleased like this.

Coming back to the first Pankiti, until that time arrives when we see Vaheguru live in everyone, we should believe Guru Sahib's Bachans that Vaheguru jee is in everyone and everywhere, and thus be humble before all. By the same token remember that being humble does not mean compromising on Gurmat.

Excellent topic Sk jee.

How does the following pangti relate to being Neema. I was thinking to bathe in the dust of Gursikhs is to; Do Kirtan, Naam Abhyass with them and also Har Jan Dee Seva physically too in the form of Langar, Joreh Dee Seva etc.

I always thought that "sadhuan dhooree kar ishnaan" was a symbolic way of saying to be humble before gursikhs, or physical seva as you've mentioned Vista jee, but I recently started to wonder if there was more to it than that. Ater Bhai Kulbir Singh jee's explanation, I can now imagine that for a jot vigaasi, bathing in this dust must be a literal, very anand-filled experience, and that this dust contains the glistening jot of Vaheguru himself. For those of us who do not yet have jot vigaas, I think we can be content with the bliss of simply wiping the dust from the feet of Gursikhs on our foreheads. I think we would automatically feel neema if we can joyfully obey this bachan.
Rest, as Bhai Preetam Singh said, only the sohagans of Vaheguru can know.

Bhenji there are no contradictions in Gurbani. The verses such as

Are referring yogis who renounce the world and cover themselves with dirt. Such acestisim is not pleasing to Guru. We are not yogis who renounce society and wander around naked , hungary, and begging others for food; instead , GUru Ji has given us hukum to serve Sadh Sangat. Meaning we cant please God through outward exhibitions or blind rituals. We can only please Guru Ji by japping GUrmat Naam and serving GUrmukhs.

The verses

Simply state for one to be in GUru Jis company ( ek mik) and receive darshan
They must do the following

1)Accept Death
2) renounce all self desire
3)Become the dust of all the sadh sangat

One cannot accept death unless they take amrit and get intiaitated into Gurmat. One cannot cease all self desire untill they japp Gurmat Naam with full vigor. One cannot Jaap Naam with full vigor unless they become the dust and serve those that Jaap Naam with full vigor. There is no difference between Sadh Sangat and Guru JI. In fact, Guru Ji says his physical roop is Sadh Sangat and be serving them with get eternal bliss.

BHai Desa SIngh Ji rehatnama

If we study the rehatnamey we notice how rehat is meant to be practiced amongst sangat and not in isolation. Nitnem and AMrit Vela was always done with sangat according to Shaheed Bhai Mani SIngh Ji and BHai Gurdas JI. Both Gurmukhs record the daily practice of Kartarpur Sahib stating nitnem and amrit vela was done collectively.
Bhai Gurdas Ji

Gyanrattan wali

Its almost impossible to go anywhere in Sikhi without joining and serving sadh sangat. GUru Ji says those that live like yogis and remain outside of the sanctuary of sangat never get free from the pain of births and death.

One day sangat came from Kabul and they wanted GUru Jis darshan. They were in such a rush they put took their shoes off and quickly went into Sri Darbar Sahib. They asked Baba Buddha Ji " Where is GUru JI" . Baba Ji pointed to the direction of their shoes and the sangat saw Guru Ji cleaning their shoes. GUru Jis has lead and taught us through personal example if we want his darshan we must become the dust of sadh sangat only then can we be blessed with the gift of mukhti.
