ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਕਾਜਲ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਹ ਸੁਆਹਿ ॥
Tan and Deh have both been used in the same pangktee, is there a reason for this. Is there a difference between Deh and Tan? Or does Deh mean something else in this pangktee, if so, then what?
Mahan Kosh has four meanings for Deh, but I dont think any of these fit...
(1) ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (2) ਦੇਵੋ। (3) ਸਰੀਰ। (4) ਜਨਮ/ਜੀਵਨ
Proffessor Sahib Singh has interpreted it as follows,
ਦੇਹਿ = ਸਰੀਰ।
ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਕੱਜਲ ਦੀ ਕੋਠੜੀ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਤਨ ਮਨ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੁਆਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
