where do most gursikhs get there sand for cleaning batay/kirpana etc?

and is there a particular type of sand that should be used?

i got some sand but its not really good.....

i also heard from some ppl that i should get the sand from the beach because its likely to more sucha than ones from the stores that sell dirt for landscaping. is that true? just want to clarify.

I'm guessing that gursikhs probably used sharp sand to clean their batay.

However I have only seen sand being used to cleaning batay/sarbloh in India, not anywhere else.
Most gursikhs in UK use wire wool and citric acid (nimboo da sat) and then Lemon juice to polish the batey.

VahegurooJee I actually have seen some sander sponges in home improvement stores like Home Depot, etc. Ofcourse they are not suchey but are really helpful for hard to clean bhaandey. They look exactly like dish washing sponges.

the sand that i have have really small rocks in there and it makes it hard to clean the batay/kirpana however the type of sand that they use in india is very good and its really easy to clean, so if anybody knows what type of sand is used in india plz let me know where i can get this from in canada.
thanks
