Vedas in itself are just Mantras and hardly contain any philosophy. Upanishads are appendixes to Vedas and contain the philosophy that is central to the Vedic religion. The Khat Shasters or the 6 schools of thought within the Vedic religion, all use the same Upanishads and interpret totally different philosophies related to Brahm, Jeev and Jada (world). The popular ones today are Vedant and Yogmat.
