Memorizing Gurbani

Is memorizing Gurbani a separate category from memorizing worldly knowledge? For instance, one who is very good at school, memorizing textbooks , numbers, dates etc, would he also be good at memorizing gurbani? The same goes for the opposite, if someone who is not that good at memorizing, will he have trouble memorizing Gurbani? Do the same memorizing techniques for memorizing worldy knowledge apply to Gurbani? Or, are the two completely separate and have nothing to do with another?

4. Previous Karam can make us learn some BaNee quicker than others. Some BaNee we get Kanth by listening to only once or twice.
