Vaaheguroo jee kee fatehhh !!!

You all maybe aware of the riots taking place in London. People are burning places down, looting stores, etc.
Anyways, daas has heard a bentee from a Singh that all Singhs in London should go to their closest Gurudwara Sahib and make sure everything is in order. Also, stay in contact with the sevadaars, in case something happens when you are not around.

It is our responsibility to protect the house of our guru sahib.

What has lead to these riots? Hasn't the local police taken any sufficient steps to stop this?

The riots were triggered by a man in north london being shot dead by police, to begin with the riots were only in tottenham but have since spread and are now occurring across the whole of the UK.
Police are deploying 16000 officers in the streets of London tonight.

Veer Jaspreet Singh jeeo -- the riots were more to do with 15-25 years olds who have nothing to do but riot they are the scum bag of today. They live off the street do drugs, have no job, don't care about anything in the world, involved in gangs, they are HULKEE kothaaaas o the road. There were many apnae involved in this violence but we also do have this breed of scum in our commuinty too who don't give a hooot about respect to work, family or ethics. They are group that has been bred on video gaming, phones, and trainers is the coolest thing in the world to them, utter scum bag, the following article says it all. The worst was this scene which my stomach turned when these thugs looted an injured lad:

By the way i loved the way our sikhs made the national news in going around their temples their ready to protect them up and down the country. However much else needs to be done , it would have also been handy to see sikhs sweeping the roads to with the Goras geneeral public who acted in vengence to clear up the mess left behind these thugs. In these brave groups their were on gora doing the broom up, clean up -- no black man or indian or asian of any background including sikh. What a chance it was for SIKHS to show them selves -- would've been brilliant- well maybe next time.:

Sikhs guard London gurdwara from rioters
Volunteers hold night vigils to protect the shrine

London, August 10
Cries of ‘Jo bole so nihal, sat sri akal’ rent the air as over 700 Sikhs and other Britons of Indian origin gathered around the Guru Singh Sabha gurdwara in Southall to protect the place of worship against rioting mobs on the streets of London.

The gurdwara, the largest in London, brought together the Asian community in Southall with people holding swords and hockey sticks.

There were reports about the possibility of the gurdwara being targeted, but no such event was reported so far.

Reports from Southall said that hooded youths were seen in the areas, but had been frightened off by the large presence outside the gurdwara.

A group of rioters tried to attack the heart of the area in the early hours yesterday, but soon groups gathered to protect the gurdwara as community elders asked for help.

Gurdwara general secretary Parvinder Singh Garcha said: “We want to show them (the rioters) we are here together. We want for them to discuss if they have a problem, we will address that with them but certainly we will not stand for any kind of violence”.

Local resident Amarjit Singh Klair said: “We are working alongside the police, they’re doing what they can but they’re stretched. Why shouldn’t we defend our homes, businesses and places of worship? This is our area. There’s lots of talk about it kicking off here. But we’re ready for them”.

Turkish and Bangladeshi groups have also been chasing would-be looters out of their neighbourhoods in east London.

Local vigilante groups have been formed in various areas in London to protect homes and business establishments that gave been vandalised by rioters, mainly of Afro-Caribbean origin, in London over the past four days.

These include shops owned by businessmen of Indian origin in Harrow and Ealing.

Southall in west London has a large population of Indian origin, which rallied together when, apprehending violence, elders in the gurdwara appealed to the community for help.

Bhagheen jio, you can not single out individuals and label anyone who is British as a bad apple. Sure, there could be those who intentionally target the Sikhs, but we can not make the same judgements and generalizations about everyone. Rest, Maharaj knows why these riots have erupted. The way I see it as, where there is paap, there would always be something of this sort.

Bravo to the UK Sikhs and Punjabis for protecting the 'gurudwarey'.

It was also warming to see Sikhs standing outside protecting Mosques in and around the Southall area, whilst Muslims did their prayers for Ramadan.

TSingh, that is so Gurmukh-like, for Sikhs to stand outside protecting other religious minorities as well. Could you post a picture or a news clip showing this?

Sikhs in UK win the hearts of all UK residents, including Muslims who were always perceived as foes! They protected not only Gurdwara Sahibs, but also Hindu temples and Muslim mosques! They maintained law and order as much as the cops, if not better! The British police, the Muslims and all other peace loving people in UK have nothing but words of appreciation for the Sikh community and their bravery! In trying to contain this rioting, Sikhs displayed the spirit of Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa as well as Bhai Kanhaiya at the same time! Bravo to the Sikhs in UK! Kudos to the Sikhs in UK! Dhann Guru! Dhann Guru pyaare!
