How important is it to put Bindiaa if the word is to be:

1.) plural(nostral sound) example: paataalaa(n) paataal lakh aagaasaa(n) agaas

and

2.) the paij bindi the (bindi under the alphabet) example: Jisdaa dittaa khaavanaa tis kaheeai SHaabaash instead of Sabaas..

I once heard that Bhai Sahib had written about a Saakhi of Amar Shaheed Bhai Sahib Bhai Mani Singh Ji regarding shudh Ucharan.

Because till now Daas has been doing Ucharan as it is written in Gurbani without Bindiaa etc... the Taksal way... but heard from other SInghs they add in Bindiaa, please shed some light..

Thank you.

If it pleases Guru Sahib, a detailed article on this subject will be written soon.

Yes there is a Saakhi of Bhai Mani Singh jee that Bhai Sahib has quoted (it appears in Sooraj Prakash). It so happened that Bhai Mani Singh jee asked Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee Maharaj as to why there are fewer Bindiaan in the Damdami Bir, as compared to the original Aad Bir of Siri Guru Arjun Dev jee. Siri Guru jee replied that it has happened so as per the Bhaana of Vaheguru and that Sujaan (wise) Gursikhs will naturally pronounce Bindiaan when they do Paath of Gurbani.

So to place Bindiaan where it is appropriate is part of Gurbani Shudh Uchaaran and Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee has provided guidance for Bindiaan for several Gurbani words. Please refer to his book - Gurbani diya Laga Maatra dee Vilakhanta. Please refer to the Santhiya section of this site for guidance on Bindiaan and Bishraam for Nitnem Baanis.
