Why Excerise?

Why Excerise?
April 17, 2011 11:27PM
i have had this question for a while in my head and i was wondering if someone could answer it....

why should we do any sort of physical excerise (ie. running, sprinting etc) if it causes us to breath more than if we were not to excerise?

by excerising are we not just losing our swaass much faster than if were not to excerise, thus decreaseing our life...so wats the point of doing any physical excerise?

thanks

what's wrong with losing swaas? do simran while you're doing exercise so that way the swaas aren't wasted. otherwise, a gursikh should not be worried about losing swaas/dying. dying quicker doesn't make us worse sikh haha

WJKK WJKF

If one has to keep this mind /soul feeding with naam and Gurbani - -which is all mental - surely it makes sense to keep physically fit as possible.

Gurbani is clear on this " Thrig teena kaa jeevayya jo khaeee vadyaaa pheet"

Any gurughar you goto there are plenty of sikhs out way way over weight -seconly if you're fit - the mind is controlled better--way way better.

I think a similar topic has been discussed here:

If you exercise you'll find that your one swaas lasts longer and therefore you can read more bani and do more simran with one breath. I will clarify but I think Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji also wrote in Gurbani Paath Darpan it is beneficial to repeat Gurmantar as many times as possible with one breath. If we exercise, we can sit longer during smagams, feel more energetic throughout the day and do more paath. Plus the Khalsa Fauj did not win battles without performing massive amounts of physical activities..

There are instances where perfectly fit and healthy athletes have dropped dead before a race or during matches. On the flip side you will see janta who have abused their bodies with nashe and done alot of julam on their digestive system their whole lives but live into their 90's. How many swaas we have is predetermined.

Actually by exercising we increase the amounts of swas because
if we have an unhealthy non exercising lifestyle then we have a higher
potential of dying early. If exercise limits ones spirtuality then why
did Guru Sahib have Gursikhs play sports like Kabaddi, and practice
Shaster Vidya. There is a strong connection between mind and body, and
you will notice that those that exercise more tend to have a more positive and
uplifting aura about them while those that dont exercise seem to be more
lethargic and negative. Even today we can see older Singhs going for long
walks to stay fit.
