Throughout GUrbani, Guru Sahib says through Naam the mind and 5 vices are controlled. Here is an example from a daily prayer of a Gursikh
ਘਰਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਕਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥

In that fortunate house ( body ) where double edge sword ( Khanda) of naam resides the panj doot which cause death get a beating. This Khanda is only given by Panj Pyaarey. But they dont give such a gift at a cheap price. You must abide by the code of ethic ( rehat). In Bhai Chaupa Singh Jis rehatnama he says those without are rehat are more susceptible to the 5 enemies.
