asa di vaar and arti

I am preparing to take amrit next year and i'm trying to add as much bani to my nitnem as i can. i wan't to add asa di vaar and arti to my nitnem but i was wondering if u can do paath of these banis without kirtan. usually theese r done with instruments but is it madatory or can u do it without these

Vadhaaeea to you for deciding to take Amrit and for adding Siri Asa kee Vaar and Arti to your Nitnem. These Baanis should be every Gursikh's Nitnem. It's better if Kirtan is done of these Baanis but there is no restriction on this and it is perfectly fine to do Paath of these Baanis as well. \

When doing Paath, if one does Paath in Tarannum (doing Paath in melodious singing way), this would amount to something very close to Kirtan if not Kirtan itself.
