Obama to visit Golden Temple in Novermber

American President Barack Obama is expected to visit the holy city of the Golden Temple when he visits India in November. A high-level team from the White House including personal security guards of the US president, led by a senior diplomat of the American Embassy in Delhi, visited the Golden Temple today and met Information Officer of Golden Temple Gurbachan Singh.

Singh said a 35-member team of American officials informed him that the US President has a plan to visit the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple.

The American team visited every nook and corner of the marbled periphery around the water pond of the Golden Temple,he added.

He said the US team also inspected the Langar Hall (community kitchen) of the Golden Temple, the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, the VIP passage from where Obama will move inside the sanctum sanctorum, besides the Information Centre where he would be offered refreshment after paying obeisance.

The US team wanted to know how much time Obama has to spend inside the Golden Temple and what kind of security measures will be required.

Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Kahan Singh Pannu said the US team inspected all the roads of the city right from
Rajasansi Airport to the Golden Temple.The team thoroughly inspected the entire Airport and its infrastructure besides the surrounding atmosphere.

Lucky fellow! Don't know when Guru Sahib will bless us with Darshan Ishnaan of Siri Amritsar Sahib.

Daas was quite surprised when heard the above news and thought he might have some kamayee in previous lifes to have Darshan of Guru Ki Nagari but unfortunately it was just my thought not the truth. So, Bhai Kulbir Singh jee now he seems to be a unlucky fellow who missed the golden opportunity to meet the Satguru. Again lobbyists won their game play.

If Obama had gone to Siri Darbar Sahib, it would have been so good for him, Karma wise.

The fact is that kings have good fortune as far as Maya is concerned but when it comes to spirituality, they seldom have good fortune. Which Mughal emperor came to Siri Darbar Sahib? Only two out of 15. Only Akbar and Humayun were fortunate enough to come to Guru Sahib's Darbar. Akbar came to the Darbar of Siri Guru Amardaas jee and Humayun came to Siri Guru Angad Dev jee at Khadoor Sahib, when he was being chased by "Mard ka Chela" Sher Shah Suri. Rest of the emperors have been devoid of good fortune to have Darshan of Guru Sahib's Darbar.

The rumor was that he wants to wear a cap ( not a bandana) and he is not allowed to wear a cap but then SGPC came out saying that he is allowed wear a hat/cap as did most of the Foreign VIP's.

But I guess he is not fortunate enough to do Darshan of Dhan Sri Guru Ram Das Sachey Patshah!

ਬਾਕੀ ਭਾਈ ਕੁਲਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀਉ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਮੋਹਨ ਦਾਸ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਤੇ ਓਬਾਮੇ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਆਏ ਮਹਿਮਾਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੋਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਲਾ ਮੱਥਾ ਟਕਾਉਣ ਕਿਉਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ। ਕਬਰ ਵੀ ਓਸ ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਸੀ ਬਸ ਇਕ ਲੰਗੋਟ ਵਰਗੀ ਧੋਤੀ ਲਾ ਅੱਧਨੰਗਾ ਰਹਿਦਾ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੱਸੋ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੰਗੇ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਤੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਟੱਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਖ ਨੰਗ ਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਪੱਲੇ ਪਉ ਉਪਰੋਂ ਦੀ ਹੱਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਸੋਚ ਦੀ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਾਦਰ ਆਫ਼ ਦੀ ਨੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਿਹਨੂੰ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਏਸ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਅੱਧ ਨੰਗੇ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੂੰ। ਸਿਆਣੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਹੀ ਕੋਕੋ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕੋਕੋ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ। ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਿਉ ਚੁਣਿਆਂ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨੰਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਫੈਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਅਕ੍ਰਿਤਘਣ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਾਤਨੀ ਪਿਉ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ, ਪਿਉ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ, ਪਿਉ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮੇਸ਼ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਹੁਣ ਪਿਉ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਣ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖਮਰੀ ਦੀ ਗੁਰਬਤ ਕਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਪਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਟੋਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕਿਥੇ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੰਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਉ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਲੂਸ ਕੱਢੀ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਚਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ। ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੰਗੇ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਜ਼ੀਡੈਂਟ ਬੁਸ਼ ਨੂੰ 2006 ਵਿਚਲੀ ਫੇਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜਰੂਰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਣਾ ਤਾਂਹੀਉ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਈ ਦੇਖੋ ਇਸ ਭੁੱਖ ਨੰਗੇ ਪਿਉ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੀ ਉਸਤੋ ਬਾਂਅਦ ਇਕਦਮ ਹੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਰੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

ਹੋਰ ਦੇਖੋ ਇਹ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਦੀ ਧੀ ਇੰਦਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਦਿਖਾਉਦੇ ਨੇ। ਛੋਟੋ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਪੜਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਬਾਪੂ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਬਾਂਦਰ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ, ਇਕ ਦਾ ਕੰਨਾ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਦਾ ਅੱਖਾ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ। ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਇਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਨਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਬੋਲੋ, ਨਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਸੁਣੋ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮਾੜਾ ਵੇਖੋ। ਵੇਖਣ ਸੁਨਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਬੜੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਨੇ ਪਰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਬੰਧ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਮੰਦ ਬੁਧੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਕੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਬਰ ਉਹਦੀ ਜਿਹਨੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਸੀ ਭਾਵ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੋਹਨ ਦਾਸ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਦੂਜੀ ਕਬਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਕੰਨਾ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਜੀਹਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ ਭਾਵ ਝੂਠੇ ਮੱਕਾਰ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ, ਤੀਜੀ ਕਬਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਅੱਖਾ ਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਅੰਨੇਵਾਹ ਅਤਿਆਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਬਕਸੂਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਬੱਚਿਆ ਘਾਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਕ ਪਵਿਤਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਭਾੜੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਚਾੜ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤਾਈ ਕਲੰਕ ਖੱਟਿਆ ਭਾਵ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ । ਹੁਣ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੋਚੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਪੂਜੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆ ਹੋਣ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਹ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਲੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ, ਕੁਲ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੀਸ ਝੁਕਾਉਣ ਦੇਣਗੇ। ਇਹ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਨੰਗੇ, ਧੋਖੇਬਾਜ਼, ਮੱਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤਿਆਚਾਰੀ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਚਹਾਉਣਗੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਹੀ ਪੂਜੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਕੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲ ਦੇਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਭੁੱਖਮਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਅਤਿ ਵਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਹੀ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਜੋ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁੰਗਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਵੇ, ਜਿਵੇ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਇਸੀ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੜਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਵੇ। ਪਰ ਉਸਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਚੰਗੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਇਕ ਨਾ ਮੰਨੀ ਤੇ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਗਈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਓਬਾਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਇਹ ਪੜਦਾ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਓਬਾਮਾ ਤਾਂਈ ਇਹ ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਜਰੂਰ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੂਸਤਾਨ ਜਾਏ ਜੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਏ ਪਰ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਬਾਦਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਤੋ ਦੂਰ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ ਇਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਹੈ।

What have we become? This is utterly shameful! Sahib Siri Guru Nanak Dev Jee Maharaj called Baabar a jaabar, and here we are literally begging a worldly ruler to visit our Gurughar that has the utmost reverence in our hearts? We are depending on Obama to raise awareness about Sikhs in the world? The world’s so-called largest democracy, i.e. India, has a Sikh prime minister who happens to be the most educated head of state in the world. If that couldn’t make the world aware about Sikhs, please tell me how will this help? He has security issues at Siri Darbaar Sahib? A place where there is 24/7 pehra of Shaheed Faujjaan? He has issues about covering his head as people will perceive him as a Muslim? Wasn’t he a Muslim before? So what is the problem? He fears his image will be affected? Hasn’t the US economy spoiled the image already? And we are begging him to visit? A person who holds his image higher than visiting Siri Harmander Sahib, we are pushing him to visit? His schedule is still not finalized, and we have started pestering him already to please please please visit Siri Harmander Sahib. If it’s in his karams, he will come. If not, then it’s his fate. Let’s have some anakh! Few years ago Singhs were invited to the White House, but later asked to come without their kirpaans. The Singhs refused and chose not to go. Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Jee Khalsa Bhindranwale said Indira can come here if she wants to talk, I won’t go to Delhi. If she wants, she can come. He never requested her to come. He left it to her, and he maintained the GurSikhi anakh. Why are we begging Obama to come? How will his coming make any difference is what I am really interested to know. Yes, we can and should encourage him to come, but NOT beg. If he comes, the whole world will see him on TV standing with Singhs in dastaars and khullay daaRay, which will be amazing. How will that earn the Sikhs extra respect anywhere in this world? People are laughing at us that we are buttering him to come. If he comes, we will rejoice, and they will laugh at us as if Obama did us a favor by coming. We should NOT beg him, we should NOT make ANY compromise as far as covering the head is concerned. The Mughal empire was among the most powerful in the world, and Akbar was an emperor who had the most glory among all the Mughal emperors. Yet even he had to come and sit as a commoner in the Sangat and have Langar. Why should we make an exception today? Is our self-respect dead? I feel ashamed!

Please forgive me if I sound stupid or arrogant. I am just disgusted by this kind of attitude. We failed at educating the Sikh youth about our Shaheeds which is evident at the rise in patitpuna and drugs in Punjab. We failed to educate the world about 1984 and till today that carnage is called “riots”. We failed to tell the world that our Shaheeds were not terrorists but revolutionaries. We failed to bring to justice those politicians who killed, burnt, and raped our people. But guess what, in order to raise awareness about Sikhi, we did a damn good job in placing our hopes in a person who doesn’t want people to feel that he still follows his former religion. Guess what, we did a damn good job in turning our community into a bunch of attention seekers. And guess what, we did one heck of a damn good job is turning our Panth into a marketable commodity which Mr. President is expected to put on sale! Bravo!

Gurmukho, the above post was only my worthless opinion, and not directed towards any of you. I didn't read Bhai Jasjit Singh ji's write up in Punjabi either as I am pretty slow in reading Gurmukhi. Just wanted to say that the above is a general viewpoint and not targeting any of my veers here.

Mehtab Singh, you are absolutely right. The issue I have with Obama or any other official visiting Darbar Sahib is that khotay dimaag SGPC employees turn their backs on maryada and bend rules for these officials. If he comes like a visitor then that’s fine but what upsets me the most is preventing Amritdharis from having darshan of Guru Darbar just because a ghona mona is in there. Plus, they will “specially decorate” the building like it is a gurpurab. SGPC will probably give him siropa too which will violate the maryada. One idiot is already saying he can wear anything he wants as long as his head is covered. Will the SGPC have the guts to tell his wife (if she accompanies him) to dress appropriately? They let Queen Victoria wear hat, socks and skirt. Not appropriate for gurughar. Maryada gets violated when bollywood is allowed to film and sangat is prevented. I personally would like all that to be stopped. Rather, Obama should be begging to visit and Sikhs should tell him straight up to visit as an ordinary human being (which he is) not as a president because the only true president of humanity is Aad Guru Granth Sahib. Sikh Sardaars always went to Darbar Sahib as a sangat and considered it their good fortune to die there but today’s so-called Sikhs will prevent sangat from going in for the security of one person who is there just for political reasons and to build up his image. I must say that I have been greatly appalled by how the Sikh sangat has handled this situation. We have gone so low to beg a worldly king to visit Sri Harmandir Sahib. Everyday in Ardas we beg Guru Sahib to give us darshan of this most wonderful place yet we have the nerve to beg a non-Sikh to give his darshan at Harmandir Sahib! Some groups have gone as far as creating petitions to get him to visit . We are making a complete mockery about the sacredness of visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib. Instead of being so concerned about having politicians come visit Sri Harmandir Sahib we should be more concerned in bringing alcoholic pindus and those in poverty to Sri Harmandir Sahib so they can change their lives.

It is complete manmat to go out of the way to treat a worldy king with special privileges. Khalsa sees pauper and prince with the same eye. However, I do believe that if a Jew or Muslim wants to wear their preferred head covering when going to Sri Darbar Sahib they should not prevented. Also, I see no harm in a secular Christian wanting to wear a baseball cap because in reality a rumaal doesnt have any more modesty then a cap or hat. I also am of the belief that Sri Harmandir Sahib should be a place which worldly leaders meet their opponents and eat together, listen to Gurbani together and come up with solutions to peace for their respected countries.

Humour on one side, but Daas totally agrees with Bhai Mehtab Singh and Bhai Bijla Singh. There is no need to beg Obama to come to Siri Darbar Sahib. If he comes, only he will gain. Sikhs will not gain anything. Sikhs get all their earnings and profits from Siri Guru Raamdaas jee, only.

For a Sikh, Guru alone is Brahma, Bishan, Mahesh and Parbati maaee. Then what is Obama? When Sikhs don't care for such big powers and Brahma, Bishan, Mahesh, 125,000 Prophets, then who is a temporary king like Obama?

Veerjee I am sorry but I strongly disagree. Wearing a cap/hat in Gurdwara is not permitted, and a Sikh who wears these is born 7 janams as a leper according to one Rehitnama. Those premi shardhalus who come to the Gurdwara, especially non-Sikhs, we cannot force them to come in a dastaar. I agree that in puratan times even non-Sikhs came in dastaars, but unfortunately our own people's dhill has uprooted that tradition, thanks to our own people drifting towards patitpuna. If a non-Sikh premi shardhalu comes in a dastaar, may Guru Maharaj do beant bakshish on him/her. If they come in rumaal, I don't think we can object. If anyone comes wearing a cap/hat, he/she has to be told to cover their head appropriately. Thats just my opinion. A rumaal is any day better than a hat/cap. An Amritdhari Sikh or keshdhari Sardar should wear only a dastaar.

Veer Ji, yes you are right ideally non- Gursikhs should come with a dastar, and the color should be any color but blue, white, or yellow. I strongly agree that a hat is never acceptable for a Gursikh the only suituable head covering for a Gursikh is a dastar. I also agree a Gursikh who abandons his faith by wearing a hat will be reborn as a leper, but lets not forget this rule is for Gursikhs only . We cannot apply rehat maryada to monay, and other people of other faiths. The rehatnama you are talking about is right here:
hoe sikh sir ttopee dhharai || saath janam kushattee hue marai ||
After becoming a Sikh if he places a hat on their head he will be reborn seven times as a leper.

In this rehatnama when Guru Sahib mentions topi he is referring to a kufi ( Muslim prayer hat). Thats why the punishment for wearing a hat is so severe. In the old times only those Gursikhs who became veymukhs traded in their dastar for a topi( Kufi)

So back to the point; If a Muslim comes with a Muslim praying hat we cannot reject him , because Rumaal isnt more modest then a kufi. In fact, both head gears are the same thing. In the old days, Muslims traditionally wore dastar but they too become weak and started wearing Kufi, same with the Jews while those from Sikh backgrounds on the other hand instead of wearing Kufi; they have begin to wear Rumaal and think its a modest thing but still it is not a modest head covering. If we have a rule stating people can wear a rumaal at Gurdwara Sahib then we cant have a rule that prohibits other head coverings like a hat, kufi etc.

I used to think that anything thats worn as a hat/cap is wrong, whereas a rumaal is tied/wrapped, and that is what we ideally do with our dastaars, thereby better than a hat/cap.
