Renounce both praise and blame; seek instead the state of Nirvaanaa.

We all know nindiya is the worst of sins and when a ''sikh" does nindiya of a gursikh, it kills khalsa brotherhood and harms the khalsa panth. But I just want to know the harmful effects of ustatt ?

Let us examine the issue at "one to one level" smiling smiley (Not at the community level)

In case of Ninda; we are told that the person who does it, is at a loss and the person whose Ninda is done "gains points" automatically, irrespective of his or her response. smiling smiley And this happens, even if the Ninda is done, in the absence or without the knowledge of the party, whose Ninda is done.

But in case of Ustat; both "parties" seem to end with a LOSS.

As Bhein Ji says, "whose Ustat is done" is likely to lose, due to gained "Haume". And this is likely to happen if the "Action of Ustat" is done at the face of the party whose Ustat is done or if Ustat reaches him somehow.

What if, if the word of USTAT never reaches him?

And Ustat is prohibited by Gurbani, we know it. How it effects the doer of USTAT? confused smiley

Help please.

There is a rehatnama where Guru Sahib says that if a bad Sikh becomes good, and a good Sikh becomes bad then we should accept this as his Hukum. So if this is all Guru Sahibs hukum how can we praise or slander any Gursikh. There are many pangtia in Gurbani which state that Guru Sahib can raise and lower the individual in a second.

For this reason we should not waste so much time in slandering or praising others instead we should be begging for Guru Sahibs kirpa. This does not mean we neglect a Gursikh who has gone " bad" or committed a Kureheit; instead, sangat should be informed about such individuals and we should help such people if they are willing to change.

If we praise a person without them knowing or even in front of them, their kamai would only decrease if they were overcome with ego after being praised right?

In terms of Ninda, if it we are sure it is 100% truth, can it be called Ninda?

The spiritual earnings of Gurmukhs that are earned through chanting of Gurmat Naam or recitation/singing/writing of Gurbani cannot be stolen by anyone, by any means. Only the negative Karma of the individual can decrease his earnings. There are many Pankitis in Gurbani that make it clear that a thief can't steal Naam, fire can't burn it and water can't drown it.

If Ustat of a person is done by a third person, it would decrease the earnings of the person only if such person develops Haume from it. Otherwise, good or bad Karma of Ustat would only be borne by the person who does it. How can it affect the Kamaaee of a Gurmukh when he has not done any negative Karma? To this day, we praise great Gurmuks of the past; are we to assume that we are reducing their Kamaaee?

It is Gurmat Asool (principle) that Vaheguru gets the world to praise His Sants who chant the Gurmukh Naam. The last Pankiti of the 18th chhant of Siri Asa kee Vaar makes it clear that Gurmukhs who worship Siri Guru Nanak Dev jee are in turn worshipped by the whole world. The whole world not only praises them but worships them.

Having said that, it is prudent to not do Ustat of a Gurmukh on his face because it can bring Haume in him.

Daas,
Kulbir Singh
