Question about doing Simran fast

Posted by HJ Singh
According to some spiritual/religious traditions in India, it is believed that humans breathe in and out 24000 times a day. At the same point in time it is believed that every human comes with a certain number of breaths in his/her lifetime. Now many of us do Simran using the technique which many people know as swaas swaas simran. I notice many people do simran using this technique, breathing very fast. If we have only a certain number of breaths in our lifetime, then are we not shortening our life by doing simran (with swaas) really fast?

HJ Singh Jio,

Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh

You brought up very interesting question but do not worry by reading more Gurbani balances those swaas. Because where as Gurbani is Gururoop it is also mantar roop. When we read Gurbani loud we hold our breath longer than we normally breath. So in this process of holding the breath longer you compensate for the breaths you haven taken fast during Naam Abhiyaas. Try it, you will be amazed by the balance of Naam and Baani. We commonly hear that Naam-Baani japo that is what it meant to be. All the great Gursikhs who did more simran they also read more Gurbani everyday and they lived normal life spans, in some cases even longer than normal. like 90-100+ years of age.

Anyway why worry about short or longer life we mortals should just follow the Hukam of Guru Sahib to have more Naam Abhiyaas and recite more Baani and Baaki Guru Jaanda Hai Saada Kee Hona Hai.

(Panna 1219)
The mortal has come to hear and utter the Guru's Bani. By forgetting the Naam and attached to other desires O mortal, you Vain your life.

Please do Ardaas for this Daas insect too to follow above follow above Bachans.

With Regards,
Daas

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life.

if waheguru knows how many breaths you have in your body, doesn't it seem he'd also know how fast you'd use them? smiling smiley

we can't trick death by doing simran slower. when it's time it's time. you can't change that. better to not waste what little time we have.
