I recently came across a novel written on 1984 anti-Sikh riots from the pionts of view of a Canadian girl visiting India. Could someone shed light on how this book is.

It’s the spring of 1984 and life is just getting exciting for the young and beautiful Esha. Nothing is more
important than her dreams of being a celebrated athlete, partying with her friends and charming the
boys. The secret that looms over her family has reinforced her proud resistance to her family’s Indian
identity. However, one day, one moment, changes everything and Esha’s well thought out rebellion is
put to the test. With the blink of an eye, she is forced to step up and fulfil her father’s last wish taking
her thousands of miles away to a place she never dreamed of visiting: India.

Stuck with a family she has never known, forced to follow traditions she has denied her whole life, and
fighting the temptations of an unlikely love interest, Esha must now confront her new reality. Yet, the
closer she comes to understanding her heritage, the sooner she becomes the victim of a highly
unstable political climate in 1984 Delhi. The Prime Minister has just been assassinated, political tensions
rise, and now only one chant can be heard: “Blood for blood”. Esha must fight to survive the three days
of brutal chaos that erupts throughout Delhi in the aftermath of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s
assassination.

Will Esha still deny her family’s heritage? Will she fulfil her father’s wish? And will she ultimately survive?

UNDER THE MOONLIT SKY tells the incredible tale of a young woman who is forced to question her
very identity. It is a unique and emotional journey set against the turmoil of a politically unstable year in
Delhi. It is a beautiful tale of the bond between a father and daughter, of a personal journey towards
discovery, and of an unexpected and electrifying love, while capturing the essence of the human
condition.
