interesting. i have never seen asa di vaar end before noon at an AKJ samagam. smiling smiley also, gur-shabad is very prominent. while i agree bani should be memorized, isn't it ok to have an amrit keertan just in case? sometimes one can forget when under pressure or stress... also, "one should read soora magazine" in a soora magazine article is kind of interesting. smiling smiley is the magazine still around?

so are we breaking the rules?

Only In India They seem to finish the actual Asa Dee Vaar Keertan by around 10 -11. Then they continue with just Shabad Keertan.

Regarding Amrit Keertan, many times you many see the Keertanee moving the Vaaja, This is disrespectful, there has being a incident where the Vaaja was rocked a lot and the Pothee fell on the floor.

Singing GurbaNee kanth is a different experience which one must try. We Can put more concentration singing a Shabad kanth. If we don't have it Kanth had keep looking at the Pothee, we keeping thinking what Pangtee is coming next.

Soora Magazine to my knowledge is not around. But there are lots of issues which are available to buy in Punjab.
SGPC Library have many old rare editions. I think Singh Brothers Book Shop or At Ludhiana, Model Town it is available.

AKJ Bulletin is a good source similar to Soora

This has been briefly discussed here .

We don't see the Hazuri Raagis from Darbar Sahib using the Amrit Kirtan pothi. They have Gurbani memorised.

This isn't stressed enough today. It is very important to not place pothis on saajs. Seeing pothis on saajs is an unfortunate trend and a very ugly one.
