A more detailed response to this very important question will be written in the near future but for now, here are some thoughts on this subject:

1) Gurbani means voice of the Guru (Guru kee Baani).

2) Since Gurmantr comes from Guru Sahib, it is also a form of Gurbani.

3) Gurbani and Naam are made of the same substance just as a goldsmith makes different shapes from the same matter - gold. Similarly, Naam and Gurbani are of same substance.

4) The whole Gurbani gives us Hukam to Japp Naam. This Hukam must be obeyed.

5) One must Japp Naam and Recite Gurbani. Both are essential. Both are full of Jyot of Vaheguru.

6) One cannot be substituted for the other. Both must be devoured.

More to come later.
