The Human life - a curse or a great blessing?

Posted by Kulbir Singh
The human life is a curse if we don't serve our Lord - Vaheguru jee. It is a great blessing if we serve Vaheguru. It is for this reason that countless other entities like Devtay etc long for the human life.

Please ponder upon the following great Kabit from Bhai Gurdas jee:

The same iron is used to build handcuffs that imprison people and the same iron when it comes in contact with Paaras, becomes gold.

The same ornaments when worn by a woman devoted to her husband look so beautiful but when they are worn by a prostitute, they are condemned.

The drop of rainfall that falls in the mouth of a sippee becomes a precious jewel but if it falls in the mouth of a snake, it becomes a poison.

Same way the maya (wealth) when it falls in the hands of worldy people it is used for evil purposes but when it is possessed by Gursikhs, great works of benevolence are done with it.

Most of the substances of this world are neutral. If they fall into the hands of manmukhs they are misused but when used by Gursikhs, these substances do wonders in serving the world. There is a difference between a Gurmukh spending money and an ordinary person spending money. A Gurmukh is an awakened spiritual entity that has understood that the pleasures of this world are not really pleasure-giving. A Gurmukh spends money for the welfare of the society and foremost for the propagation of Dharma.

This human life, if used to serve Vaheguru, is the most precious possession and a great blessing but if it is used to indulge in the evil pleasures of Maya, it becomes a curse. The deeds done in this human form have far fetching consequences. Many life forms are spent to pay the Karmic debts incurred in this life.

May Guru Sahib be pleased with us and enable us to serve our Lord - Vaheguru jee.

This reminds me of Baba Harnam Singh Ji ( RampurKhera) . Baba Ji was a true saint and was content with whatever WaaheGuru Ji gave him. Whatever maya sangat donated Baba Ji wouild directly give to Guru Sahib/Sangat. He always used "his" resources to help those in need. He never did bad, he always did good and thus used maya as a means to gain more and more Naam.

This pauri from Asa Di Var reminds me most of what Bhai Gurdas Ji says when he mentions how Gursikhs do great works. Qualities that Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji possessed.

They do not place their feet in sin, but do good deeds and live righteously in Dharma.
