Today is Friday the 13th, a day most people fear for all sorts of weird reasons. But is there anything to really fear about? Not in the Sikhi sense, at least I feel that way.

A well known sakhi about Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji states that Gurujee went into samadhi while counting grains at work when He reached the number 13, which is "tera" in Punjabi, and also means "Yours". Therefore I strongly believe that 13 is one blessed number for us Sikhs. How about Friday? What is Friday called in Punjabi? Its called shukkarvaar. So how would you say "Friday the 13th" in Punjabi? You would say "shukkarvaar tera", or lets say "shukkar tera", meaning "thank you Vaheguru". Thus, each time there comes a 13th Friday, its not a day to be scared, its a day to thank Vaheguru.

Just my foolish thoughts

There is no room for such superstitions in Gurmat. Please ponder upon the following pankitis:

(Good or bad omens affects him who does not remember Vaheguru. Even Jammdoot does not come near him who is pleasing to Vaheguru.

(Naam is superior to all other Karma e.g. good deeds, charity, austerities etc. One who chants Naam through mouth, all his works are done).
