(Mid January to Mid February)ਮਾਘਿਮਜਨੁਸੰਗਿਸਾਧੂਆਧੂੜੀਕਰਿਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
ਹਰਿਕਾਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਇਸੁਣਿਸਭਨਾਨੋਕਰਿਦਾਨੁ ॥
ਜਨਮਕਰਮਮਲੁਉਤਰੈਮਨਤੇਜਾਇਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
ਕਾਮਿਕਰੋਧਿਨਮੋਹੀਐਬਿਨਸੈਲੋਭੁਸੁਆਨੁ ॥
ਸਚੈਮਾਰਗਿਚਲਦਿਆਉਸਤਤਿਕਰੇਜਹਾਨੁ ॥
In the month of Maagh, let your cleansing bath be the dust of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
Meditate and listen to the Name of the Lord, and give it to everyone
In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed, and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind.
Sexual desire and anger shall not seduce you, and the dog of greed shall depart
Those who walk on the Path of Truth shall be praised throughout the world.
ਅਠਸਠਿਤੀਰਥਸਗਲਪੁੰਨਜੀਅਦਇਆਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
ਜਿਸਨੋਦੇਵੈਦਇਆਕਰਿਸੋਈਪੁਰਖੁਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥
ਜਿਨਾਮਿਲਿਆਪ੍ਰਭੁਆਪਣਾਨਾਨਕਤਿਨਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
ਮਾਘਿਸੁਚੇਸੇਕਾਂਢੀਅਹਿਜਿਨਪੂਰਾਗੁਰੁਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥12॥
Be kind to all beings-this is more meritorious than bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage and the giving of charity.
That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Mercy, is a wise person.
Nanak is a sacrifice to those who have merged with God.
In Maagh, they alone are known as true, unto whom the Perfect Guru is Merciful. ||12||
(Baar Mahaa)
In this month, Guroo Sahib Jee says to bathe in the dust of Saints (Gursikhs) congregation. During this month there is a big mela known as Kumb Da Mela . Thousands of sadhoos gather together for this mela.
Guru Sahib Jee says that a sadhoos company is the biggest holy bath. One gets gian as to how to meditate on the Lord.
Satguru asks us to remember Naam and to bestow it as alms to others. In this way millions of sins are washed away and Ego is beaten out the mind, neither can the other vices harm us. If we follow the true path set by Satguroo Jee we will receive the respect of everyone.
ਹਰਿਕੇਨਾਮਕਬੀਰਉਜਾਗਰ ॥
Through the Lord's Name, Kabeer became famous and respected.
Mercy shown to lving beings is more praiseworthy than bathing at places of pilgrimage and the giving of alms.
In Magh,deem the bath in dust of the Gurmukhs sangat as an ablution at the shrines.
One whom Vaheguroo does kirpa on these human souls attain Tat-Gian. In this holy month, they are considered great and pure.
Guroo Sahib says that he is a sacrifice to them who are blessed by Vaheguroo. There coming to this world is fruitful and they are nirmal to whom Vaheguroo has become merciful.
ਆਇਆਤਿਨਕਾਸਫਲੁਭਇਆਹੈਇਕਮਨਿਜਿਨੀਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
Fruitful is the coming of those, who meditate single-mindedly on Him
